In a sweltering evening in the south, a father and a son sat in a garden, wishing for a cool breeze before their swim in the stream of dream.

They sat in silence, watching the gazing stars and listening to the singing crickets.
Finally the son asked, “Father, why do stars blink?”
“Would you believe, son, that they have secrets to tell?” the father said tenderly.
“Will they tell in my dreams?” the boy asked.
“See those stars?” The father pointed to a scintillating starry cluster in the southern sky. “They know the secrets of Qin.”

The boy begged to hear, so the father happily began storytelling. He went from the First Emperor of Qin to the Marital Emperor of Han, from the banquet at the Hong Gate to the Gobi campaigns. One story after another, they carried on and on, like the night would not end and the stars would never go home.
