Scott Pelley gets a behind-the-scenes look at Trump's midtown campaign headquarters.
Do you have a moment to show Scott your
bustling campaign headquarters?
The President.
I'll do that.
Do you want to go down and see it?
Yeah, come on.
Let's go.
Let's go see it.
Yeah, come on.
Let's go.
Is it here in the building, right?
It's here in the building, and it's really cool
because it's understated.
It's us again.
Thank you so much.
Okay.
Well, so we'll go.
Where do you want to go?
The —
Five, please.
Alvin.
This was actually the Apprentice floor.
Oh.
Not that —
That I converted.
I just, you know, gutted it out.
You shot it here?
We shot it —
Yeah.
We shot the Apprentice right here.
So I took this space, and before I set it up for
somebody's great offices, I said, let's leave it
empty for a little while, and let's put our
campaign headquarters here.
And we definitely have the best-located
headquarters in the history of campaigns.
It's not exactly finished out like the other
Trump properties that I've seen.
No, no, no.
This is nice, high ceilings.
You know, you mentioned in the interview that
there's a lot of people who don't know about
this, and I'm going to ask you to tell us a little
bit more about it.
Okay.
Well, I'm going to tell you a little bit about
this.
It's a great building.
But who are your big backers going to be?
Well, I'm doing my own financial backing.
I don't have any backers.
Yes, but, I mean, what names are we going to
hear that are lining up behind Donald Trump?
Well, we're actually announcing a whole
military group in six weeks, and I think it'll
be a very — we're going to have a news
conference, and that'll be about six weeks.
We're announcing tax policy over the next few
days, and that'll be very — to me, that's very
exciting because I truly understand the tax code
and what has to be done.
And we're announcing lots of different things,
including healthcare.
We'll be rolling out things over the next
couple of months.
You know what we noticed about you coming out of
that event in New Hampshire?
Tell me.
You were ringing wet.
Yeah.
This has gotten from the let's-all-have-fun stage
to the hard-work stage.
You know, the air conditioning — this is
constant — the air conditioning in these
places is just not set up for thousands of people.
And I noticed that when I speak, I notice that you
are ringing wet, absolutely.
And I love it because you lose weight.
It's almost like a form of a workout.
But the point is, this is about to become real,
hard work.
Yes, I think it already is.
But I love it.
I love doing it.
I love the response I'm getting from people.
