Players Championship time and this one has more good,
strange and unusual shots than we regularly see.
However as usual we're still trying to find the best shot of the tournament
by recreating all of them as accurately as possible
before playing them in the fewest possible attempts.
But we're beginning with Mark Selby who was playing at the top of his game
in his match against Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Not only does he manage to pop this red
but he gets the cannon to the black perfectly to knock it on to the opposite corner
and we know he was attempting this because he was queuing up to the black
a few moments before he played the shot.
Now in theory the pot on the red isn't too difficult here
but I seem to be having great difficulty finding the right angle
but at the same time I'm learning the path the cue ball has to take
to make the cannon on the black
so hopefully when I get it I should knock it on just like I have here.
Not only does this snooker escape from Judd Trump look good
as it helps him pop the brown and eventually go on to win the frame
but he also wins every subsequent frame after this taking the match 6-2.
I've got it on my second attempt but unfortunately I've run through enough after it.
I'm using topspin and left hand side to make it arc off the cushion
but this is really difficult to judge
because if you just hit it slightly harder it runs up the cushion a little bit further
and breaks a lot wider but I finally got it right.
Next is Yeo Yulong with a well-timed cannon
using topspin to arc the cue ball onto the black on the top cushion
knocking it nicely over the corner pocket.
I've just got to judge the speed and the topspin here to make the cue ball arc
and my first attempts nearly got it right
and I've made the correction nicely with my second
meaning I've got this one pretty quickly as well.
Zhang And has got himself in a little bit of difficulty
and surprises commentators when he nominates the yellow
but he managed to find a clean path for the cue ball to avoid all the reds
and make contact with the yellow on the first time of asking.
These types of shot are a lot easier for me
because I can see exactly where the player struck the cushion
and just try to copy the line.
It's no guarantee that I'm going to get it but this time it worked.
A pot down the cushion now for Mark Selby
that was instrumental in this 6-0 whitewash of Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Ronnie had taken an early lead in this frame
and it looked like he was finally going to get his first frame on the board
however Mark had other ideas.
This one requires an accurate pot down the cushion
but other than that I'm not sure it's as difficult as I first thought
because of the position of the balls if you miss this shot
it should go safe depending on where the red ends up.
Five attempts is definitely less than I was expecting on this one though.
Judd Trump finds a thin cut and a way back to bulk now
after it looked like he didn't have any shot on whatsoever.
I've lined this one up as accurately as I possibly can
but I'm not sure if I've got the position of the reds right
because in theory the cue ball should come in and out of the reds
and back through to the right hand side of the pink
and I'm not sure if I pot this it's going to do that
especially as I'm over cutting it already
and the cue ball's kissing the pink or going to the left hand side of it.
In theory all I've got to do here is get the pot right and see what happens
I can't really do anything with side spin to control the cue ball at this distance
but I don't think I've quite got it lined up right
and the cue ball has gone the wrong side of the pink
I just don't know what I could have done about this.
A nice simple double for John Higgins now
let's see if we can also get this one straight away.
Should be able to as it's a fairly straightforward double
where I just need to stun the cue ball down to the black.
I thought I missed it but I slightly potted it to the far jaw
which meant the cue ball ran on a bit.
Now Mark Allen's double from here definitely isn't simple
and I know for certain he didn't play it
but when has that ever stopped us before
so let's see if we can get the red in the middle pocket from this position.
It's going to be a bit of a challenge but I'm confident we're going to get there
what's helped on my first attempt is I've got very close
so I can sort of work it out
and my second attempt has somehow gone in the pocket
but which of these is the cheekiest double?
I think I know.
This week John's shot barely gets two
but as he went on to win the frame even though it was a complete fluke
Mark Allen's gets five and he's this week's winner.
A pot out of the jaws of the middle pocket is next from Zanganda
this one requires really good cueing and an accurate pot
but I definitely think it's going to be gettable.
After all you just got to get the angle right and pop the ball with this one
which I've managed to do
and the whites just about held up on time to stay on the black.
Mark Selby has a pot on the pink now
and manages to play the cue ball all the way around the angles and back for the reds.
This one's from a quite an awkward position
so he does well here to avoid the vault colours.
This one requires a small trace of left hand side and quite a bit of backspin
you then use the power of the shot to control the angle the cue ball goes around the table.
As you can see with this one I didn't get into the cue ball enough
and I think that's because I'm putting too much left hand side on the ball
and not really enough backspin.
That's why I can't quite stay on the right side of the brown
because the cue ball's not travelling far enough up the side cushion
before making contact with it.
I think I got the spin right with that one I just haven't hit it hard enough
so let's see if I can make the correction.
It's a bit low on power but I'm heading on the right direction
I've ended up in position on the red just about.
I thought this well controlled shot round the back of the pink from Mark Allen
was definitely worth a look next.
As I just need to drag the cue ball around the back of the pink for the black
it's going to be mostly about getting the angle right
which I don't seem to have worked out on my first couple of shots
so I need to correct that and get position on the black.
That's pretty good and three attempts is probably about right for this one.
Ronnie O'Sullivan really cues this one well in his first match
and gets the white back to the top side of the blue.
I do think I can just about play this with a regular cue ball on my table
but it does mean that I'm going to have to cue through this
about as fast as I can and that's going to make the pot a lot more challenging
and I'm struggling to do that without jumping up in the air
but because I've lined everything up right
when I finally struck through the middle of the cue ball it went in.
This is another good positional shot off the black from Mark Selby
as he goes in and out of bulk to come back for a red on the top cushion
however this time this one doesn't look too difficult
and it just seems like you have to hit it hard enough.
So I'm just trying to top spin this one off the top cushion
using a small trace of left hand side.
Hopefully this will make it arc back towards the green
and come back down the table for the red.
It's just going to be controlling that arc that's a problem
and I've slightly overdone it or underdone it with my first couple of attempts
so hopefully I can get it fairly close
but unfortunately I keep over hitting it
and not controlling how wide the cue ball breaks off the top cushion.
This is actually a lot harder to play than I was expecting.
I thought I just had to bash it and hit it up and down
and I wasn't expecting it to be so difficult to get the cue ball back in the right place.
Effectively you've got to make the cue ball spin back towards the green
arcing it round it almost off the top cushion
and I just can't seem to get that right.
So I think I'm going to have to stick with this one
because I simply can't top spin it enough at the right angle.
Judd's powering the blue in now to get back round the angles
for a red at the top end of the table
and lands in position on it absolutely perfectly.
One of the things that was worrying me about this shot before I attempted it
was that you have to hit it quite hard
and on my first attempt here I think I've made it jump out the pocket
and possibly on my second.
My third it's definitely jumped out the pocket though
so I'm really having to try hard to keep it on the table
but that means I can't quite play the shot as hard as I want to.
However if I can avoid bouncing it at all I've got a chance
and I've managed to get enough top spin on this one to flick it around the angles
and I've just about ended up on the red.
Mark Allen gets this in off now in the final
when Zhang Ander leaves him in the middle of the balls
with seemingly no real shot on
but he manages to still pull this one out.
I think Mark was attempting to screw back a little bit further
because he was only just on the black and he would have left reds on
had he had missed it
but two attempts is pretty good with this one.
Tom Ford plills off this really nice cannon on the pink now
to find himself nicely in position on a red
however it doesn't help him too much as he ends up losing the match to Ali Carter.
With this angle I've basically just got to pot this one
with a small trace of right hand side to try and get the correct cannon on the reds.
My first attempt was close but I didn't quite get the right cannon
and I just don't seem to be able to pot it now
but I keep getting the cannon right every time I miss the pot.
I don't think I'm seeing this one very well
and if I was I probably would have got it already
but I'm pretty happy with the cannon I got in the end.
Ali Carter has this frame ball red along the top cushion
which crucially drops in against Judd Trump.
He eventually then goes on to win the match 6-4.
These go in so much easier on my table so it isn't really a true test
but I was happy to see it go in straight away.
Dings pot from tight on the cushion here is actually a really thin cut
but he manages to get it and go on to win the frame
however he still ends up losing out to John Higgins in this match.
With my first attempt on this one I actually hit where I intended
but it was a little bit thicker than I first thought
and it took me a little while to get the angle
and I think three attempts is actually pretty good with this one.
We've got John Higgins' shot right after we find Knight of Knee
in Calgary, Alberta which is there.
This is a crucial match from John Higgins in his match against Ding
as he finds a red into the corner pocket
which wasn't necessarily going to leave him in a completely safe position
meaning there was quite a bit of risk attached to it.
Again it's all about getting the angle right
and also top spinning the cue ball around the red that's in front of it.
You've got to play it fairly fast or this won't happen
so I've got to get both of those things right
and I've managed to do that in four attempts so that's not too bad.
Mark Allen now with a well struck shot
that's pretty similar to that Ronnie O'Sullivan shot we saw earlier
so let's see if I can cue it the same and get the same result out of it.
This one would be a little bit easier but I'm cueing very close to the brown
so it takes a little more concentration to avoid hitting it as I push the cue through
but it's the same as before really I've got everything lined up right
so as soon as I strike through the centre of the cue ball it's going to go in the pocket.
So for the results it was close
but I'm giving third place to Mark Selby with this positional shot of the black.
It was definitely a lot harder than I thought it was going to be
and I couldn't really keep the white close enough to the red.
Second place goes to Judd Trump with this cut.
It may look straightforward
but the way he found a path back to bulk at the same time was just ridiculous
but first place goes to the pot and cannon from Mark Selby.
This really isn't easy but he manages to absolutely nail it.
