Origin of the Miraculous Ointment
In the early years of the Qing Dynasty, there was an old scholar named Liu Ziyi in Tianchang County, Anhui Province. He used to make a living by teaching children, but his income was meager and barely enough to cover expenses. In order to support his family, he sold his large house and bought a small courtyard house on the north side of the city. His wife and children lived inside while the street-facing side served as a shop for small business. Liu Ziyi was generous, sincere, and honest, but not good at bargaining with others. After a year, his capital was exhausted, yet the small shop made no profit. The family still lived a tough life.
