hey what's up I'm Matt I play bass and
singing in a band called Walt like birds
and we're going to talk about my pebble
ring so uh basically being a bass player
I'll have to get too crazy fancy but we
do get a little bit interesting on this
guy we are we like a lot of low-end in
our music so all of us actually have a
different kind of whammy on our board
after of course the volume pedal just a
standard at Ernie Ball volume pedal I'm
into my polycon we run into the the
digitech bass whammy a lot of times I
they could just use the v down in the
octave up setting for different parts of
different songs and then for all of our
older stuff we'll use the octave down
setting for some of that can we do a lot
of like really beefy huge parts and I
kind of helped to wind up the sound and
we're kind of sprinting a little bit we
end up actually talking GHS and we got a
split going on so what we do is after we
run through the volume pedal tuner and
Randy we're off to our split and
actually just run straight into this
radial di I'm the Madi is he goes to our
front house so that just gives the Queen
pure tone so we can get a really pure
round low end going from the board
itself after that we're running out from
the splits into our overdrive section we
have this is use a basic ps90 experiment
which a lot of people were really
conceited back so Andy that's like such
a tone suck as far as based up is
concerned but actually these are just I
really like the grind that you can get
out of it and the presence on top of it
is really really cool
now after that this is actually a really
cool really unique pedal very to you in
existence my friend Matt specs from my
hometown of Boise Idaho he actually made
these problem the PBR overdrive and it's
essentially two transparent overdrive
very similar to a teenager you're
familiar with those and I use that as I
pretty much just kind of mica tone even
now so it will use it to roll off base
if it's a little bit too gloomy or you
know trouble if it's a little bit too
bright
I almost keep it free pretty pretty dry
out this guy don't get too over the top
and it stays on all the time so I'm not
too that running out into the tech21
sansamp I got the button model which we
initially were running out just a DM
dish
with that spliff now we're just running
straight through to that normal pedal to
come equalize total they're oftentimes
switch between the two for my J and P
base because those are different pickup
configurations and a little bit
different there so yeah after that
though I run out to straight into my amp
and we run just the GI signal and then a
mic on the cab itself so our entire band
is endorsed by this awesome company
called West toad in years and they're
really really cool they do everything
from hearing aids to you know - of
course I am that we use these are all
custom molded in years so they have all
of our own personal customisation to
them however we want and then you
actually get molds for your ears like a
lot of companies like 1964 ears or
anything like that but Western is a
company we use they're based out of
Colorado super cool really really happy
with them in amazing you're worthless so
if you're looking for any good in here
so just want to check out well this is
my baby I guess you can say so okay so
this is my main baby my road warrior it
has seen a lot of wear and tear
this actually is all for me this is
natural natural scarring and everything
I've had it for five years and this is
actually a really unique bass most
people don't know this is one of the SSR
series it's a 1964 hot rod deluxe
version and it's actually one of the
vintage reissue styles but the one thing
that's really unique about this has got
a matching why ahead stop with the body
as well as it's got a s one switch in it
which you don't see a lot of the time on
faces it's more kind of something you'll
see on the guitar models I'm actually
not 100% sure what it does but it what
it allows one is pushed in you just go
to a single volume in a single tone and
then that allows it to get a little bit
more of a mid this is kind of what I
hear and again I don't know for sure but
when you have it off it's actually just
a standard J setting so you're gonna
have your roll offs for your different
pickups in your tone switch here yeah
it's just about out to bridge on it and
then I haven't really done anything to
this one I just fell in love with it
when I got it and that had the had
little had this thing going there since
oh so these are stock pickups on these
just fcns they came in the base like
said and they sound awesome as I've
never had a reason to switch them out so
I kept them infinitely I've used for a
lot of years to earn involved with the
examiner t-ball Cobalts but I just
recently started working with a company
called gear Supply Co and that's
actually what I have on here right now I
generally play lights which is a 45 to
100 which are always great for I do a
lot of finger style so I like the
lighter strings really easier and more
forgiving on the fingers so so on this
guide we actually play all in the
standard chains so this is just a
standard in a DG it works super super
well for everything with a without using
the octave pedals you don't have to do
any alternator to crazy low tunings even
though we do get a lot of questions
about that because we are we are like I
said a variable that heavy bands so yes
and again without tuning this brings me
to my body string this is just the
standard it's got a low B and then
obviously a DG just like regular tuning
this guy is kind of been one of my
project basis this is actually more of a
Frankenstein than anything so now if you
want to be a squire of five and I found
it and got it almost covers a joke so
thinking about getting into five string
love the neck on it but it is hard being
a squire five anymore it spends it
completely like Harlow it out might have
all American custom pickups
potentiometers and all the goods in
there I've been i rewired and everything
from now it's essentially it's an
American custom P bass with a squire
neck and body and as I kind of ducktales
couple stickers our friend Buju tattoo
in San Diego and then actually put my
world definitely always up here to super
nerd I've got down my J base as well but
yeah were you simple pretty
straightforward and a lot of it is
through the board and they're not just
how what we use naturally so so yeah
really straightforward come around ago a
target you can be a cheeky classic setup
guys living like a 2013 standardises
Ostrava she esteems of us income travel
here breaking knobs off left and right
but that was matching classic cap which
is a great reason why so many people
have a thousand I mean I the one is like
they're really reliable like really
really heavy for quite a few years now I
used to have a nice and CP and basically
essentially a Z for 2022 model and that
was just it was a great am gonna tell me
super cool but it which is like with the
amount of touring we do and as I clear
up there on the bandage is kind of is
the work incentive for it's going it up
again as week a classic to kind of do
more of the road vision I still use a
back at home kind of get more into
Levi's pretty the atmosphere has been a
tank it works really well I am hitting
then also my quarters maybe so we just
released a new record called too busy
how are equal vision records and that is
available essentially everywhere I Tunes
Spotify anything like that and we will
be out on the road quite a bit this year
so make sure to come see us we are out
now until the first week in June so
