Chinese traditional Story: An Extraordinary Girl's Gratitude

During the Han Dynasty, Tingyu Gao was governor of the Chu Yang State. One day, his mother, Yushi, was on her way to visit him. When Yushi's sedan crossed the bridge in Laian County of Shandong, she decided to go up the mountain and take in the beautiful scenery. Just as she reached the foot of the mountain, she heard someone weeping. She told the carriers to stop, and she then stepped out and walked in the direction where the crying came from. Yushi soon noticed a young girl sitting under a tree crying bitterly. The girl told Yushi: "My name is Luyun and I’m from Laian County. My mother died and my father remarried. My stepmother beats and curses me every day. I could no longer take it, so I left my home and I have nowhere to go."
