Feb 27, 2024
Rep. Ed Orcutt, R-Kalama, delivers a floor speech in support of Amendment 1107 to Senate Bill 5950 (supplemental operating budget). The policy in the amendment would send $150 checks to registered drivers in Washington state to help offset high fuel prices caused by the state's Climate Commitment Act/carbon tax.
Amendment 1107 was not adopted. Senate Bill 5950 passed on a party-line, 58-37 vote -- with all House Democrats voting in favor and all House Republicans opposed.
