Khengjang Salu-lap Laam:
This indigenous dance is practised among the Kuki community in North-East India. It is originated from Khengjang Village, Kangpokpi Dist.(Manipur). The term Salu laam literally means a wild-animal head dance form. In olden days, after a fierce battle is won, village folks would gather around and show their respect by singing hymns to the brave warriors with great pomp and splendour. This dance form was modernised by Late
Pu Nehkholam Chongloi, the former Chief of Khengjang Village in the late 70s.
