us imports from Mexico has taken the
number one spot and beaten the imports
from China for the first time in 20
years David what does this all mean it
means that for a while they like to eat
bza but now they like to eat tacos maybe
I should open a taco stand um basically
it says us imports from Mexico beat
China for the first time in 20 years
with 476 billion crossing the southern
border while goods from China slump 20%
to 427 Billy and Andrew there's a ton of
reasons for this a ton of people are
talking about the implications over here
over there make sure you like subscribe
turn on your notifications cuz we're
going to break it down but guess what
they need to check out too you know what
doesn't need to be imported from Mexico
though because it's made in America it's
small ass sace guys it is sold out right
now but we are restocking soon so stay
tuned for that yeah I mean let's just
take a look us trade with Mexico and
China they're kind of tracking with each
other Co it takes a huge dip and then
boom Mexico keeps on soaring to 69
billion China now down at 47 billion so
those are the trend marks a lot of
people are talking about geopolitical
relations the cost of shipping has gone
weighed up and or China's actually on
the other side of the globe Mexico part
of North America so there's just a ton
of reasons with a ton of implications
right well you know what uh first of all
I think it makes sense because China Rel
and US relations has has only soured
more and made it harder
right but something that people a lot
were talking about in the news New York
Times a lot of articles that come out in
this past couple years talking about how
a lot of the factories in Mexico are
owned by Chinese or Taiwanese right or
Taiwanese so they're basically from Asia
these Asian manufacturers a lot from
China mov their manufacturing to Mexico
to make the goods for America so what
happened was obviously When Donald Trump
became president he did go harder on
China so then that caused a lot of
Manufacturers a surge of Manufacturers
from China like furniture makers uh
fridge brands that were like oh okay
well we should move like our
manufacturer to Mexico so that we can
produce it still for cheap and the
shipping cost is uh smaller and it's
faster to ship and there's less
controversy and then we'll just get it
straight into America right so some
people are saying that it's a way for
like Factory owners or companies to
circumvent the new taxation rules right
because there's a lot of tariffs and
stuff like that coming from China but
there's no tariff on a chinese-owned
business in Mexico in La Vietnam
Cambodia Thailand Etc right so basically
it it's like Chinese manufacturers
moving to other countries that have
better relations with America so that
they don't have to deal with the China
us thing cuz they're like hey man like
they're just like hey you know I just
want to sell Furniture like I don't want
to be political you know I'm not part of
this thing I just want to make things in
some country and and sell to America
goodbye shanan hello
monter um I'll say this at the end of
the day though it still does benefit the
Mexican economy because the people in
the factories will be local workers it's
not like they're going to import a bunch
of Chinese to work at the factories in
Mexico right I'm sure the head of the
factories that are Chinese are probably
still maybe Chinese or or
Spanish-speaking Chinese or or maybe
Chinese Americans or Chinese Mexicans
that already grew up in Mexico that the
language and the culture and they're
hiring them but yes I believe a lot of
the factory workers are Mexican so so
it's in a
way my question is this are
you should Mexico should be happy right
that a lot of these factories are moving
in right because that's well I think
ultimately it stabilizes more of a lower
middle class or you could depends
obviously on what type of factory job
maybe a quasi lower middle class versus
a higher low class you know what anybody
wherever the factory work like slots
into the income dist even if it's good
factory work let's just say it
strengthens the middle class I'll tell
you this if anything it crunches the
factory worker tier in China a lot right
because those jobs will go to Southeast
Asia and to Mexico etc etc so maybe the
people who are losing out on this the
most are Chinese Factory workers who are
having trouble finding work in China
right right right I mean I guess like uh
there's a lot of things that are
involved in this and it's so interesting
because this involves even the war in uh
isra versus Gaza uh Ukraine versus
Russia this threw off the timeline for a
lot of global Shipping because a lot of
global Shipping and you have to go into
other Count's Waters if those other
countries have like chosen aside that
technically makes them involved in the
conflict that means uh a lot of shipping
routes they got to go like way around
another Pathway to avoid a conflict zone
so so there's it has to do with like
Global instability it has to do with
supply chain value chains wait wa wait
people specializing in different
Industries for different countries let
me get this right when you're saying in
a time of conflict or War amongst
countries then all of a sudden those
countries have to start looking at their
alliances and being like oh you know
what my friends are beefing with that
guy but your friends with that guy so if
you want to ship your stuff I'm going to
make it hard on you essentially well
yeah I don't know yeah for sure
but it just creates a lot of volatility
for people who are just shipping stuff
around the world they don't like it they
want peace they want Harmony right
that's good for business um yeah let's
just get into the comments section
somebody just said you know well it
doesn't matter because the Chinese are
going to own all the parts even if it's
assembled in Mexico they put a slap of
Mex made in Mexico sticker on it where
did all the parts come from the
components yeah yeah well I mean that's
the aspect of it I'm sure it's it's true
for some things but it it's not as true
for other things right you know Mexico
doesn't have the same relation uh
tension with China as us does but Mexico
is more friendly with America obviously
being the neighbor right this guy said
fix immigration man bring the workers
here so we can build rebuild our
manufacturing base we've got to grow the
GDP and rebuild the middle class and
somebody said yeah it's not really about
America growing its GDP it's about how
much America
spends like America still by far makes
the most money out of any country right
in the world but it's just spending a
lot right now like like even more than
it's
right right right so I mean I guess it's
kind of like Andrew you're everybody's
got one friend who makes a lot of money
and they're still always broke because
they're living a super lavish lifestyle
right it's not about how much money you
make it's about how much money you keep
someone just said uh go to Walmart and
Target see how many things there are
made in Mexico versus China someone said
but uh look at the fruit and vegetable
aisle it is true that the fruit and
vegetables much more likely to come from
Mexico than from China for sure yeah
yeah yeah um somebody just said uh you
know it's all about subcomponents
somebody said 71% of CEOs are Republican
man it's who they decimated America with
all the job Outsourcing who's Andrew who
is to blame for it some people want to
dial it back cuz even though now China's
Outsourcing to Mexico and then shipping
it back to the us some people are saying
who's responsible for the manufacturing
leaving in the 70s and 80s in the first
place I don't know if it's productive to
try to blame each other because I think
everybody has blame to go around but I
think everybody's just arguing and
debating about
percentages like everybody whether
democrat or republican it wasn't just
one Republican president and one
Republican CEO it wasn't just one
Democrat CEO and one Democrat president
that led all these things right to this
point you know
so I don't know I feel like people want
to act like they didn't have the
foresight
but now can we set set our differences
aside and just do what's best for
America you're saying what's the point
of yelling about the manufacturing like
pretty much for sure leaving by the year
2000 the
blame game you know what I mean like I
don't I what's so productive about the
blame game yeah I mean it probably has
to do with the US dollar being the
foreign Reserve currency right and then
it became powerful and you were able to
regulate but then it made it too
expensive to manufacture and all this
there's there's that reason and then a
bunch of other ones dude of course if
you move manufacturing overseas that's
in a that Americans are going to do
higher level work you mean not want to
do the factory work anymore right like
they don't even want those manuf there
is a there is a population in America
that are probably could work in the
factories and would take that job you
mean like Eminem in eight miles yeah
well I mean I don't are youer let's be
honest you're talking about Detroit I'm
not saying sh it's Detroit only but I'm
just saying there's people in America
who probably could use those jobs but
but since we're moving them out you know
I mean that's what happens right well
don't act don't well don't act surprised
is what I'm telling people I don't want
to be a nerd I don't want to be a little
nerdy quty nerdy tapping on querty um
somebody just said this is great news
man let's put china where it belongs and
someone said yeah put them in Canada and
Australia where they already took over
obviously that's another joke about like
Vancouver housing prices I'll say this
man in my opinion if America is like
super capitalistic everything about like
I'm not saying China's cool or has like
the soft power but I'm saying everything
about them becoming the like by far A1
dominant manufacturing thing it
literally was a function of capitalism
they had the most people that was
willing to work really hard hours for
relatively cheap to produce you know
otherwise the iPhone's going to be like
$4,000 if they had to amortize the R&D
you know whatever Plus us Western labor
cost so I'm saying 4,000 like yeah no
literally iPhone would be $4,000 so I'm
saying if we were to make them in the US
so I'm saying what this was the way that
capitalism broke down so it's like when
you're saying like does anybody deserve
this or deserve that I'm like man I
always just say anybody who signs up to
do the work for cheaper and it's like
good enough or the best work for cheaper
they're going to get the contracts well
this is also yeah globalization I mean
listen you can hire
uh somebody design something and they
can be in the Philippines or colia and
you can hire them for you're talking
about like Fiverr and stuff right a
third of the work yeah for a third of
the price and I'm not saying that it's
better than working with someone sitting
down with them at a coffee shop in New
York but it'll definitely be cheaper bu
a lot Yeah by a lot it might be worth it
so I think that uh I guess
like is this a piece of news that people
are emotional about like are people like
let's say David let's say we're we're
being that typical let's put our minds
into like a typical like I guess extreme
right-wing American Cletus from Omaha
are they happy to hear that the Mexico
Imports are above China right it's
better right yeah lot tacos is better
than them little dumplings or whatever
things they be eating with the
Chopsticks so are you guys happy I don't
know let me know in the comments down
below like who's are you guys happy or
you guys just don't I don't know do you
have any opinions on this news because I
guess even though a good number of the
factories may be owned by Chinese and
Taiwanese
uh and and a lot of that that money is
still going back to a Chinese person but
it's
employing Mexican people Mexican
citizens in Mexico so I guess like
that's good for them yeah I mean I think
the truth is there's a lot of
variability and things don't really like
impact a whole country the same anymore
I think it matters so much more nowadays
what Fishbowl you're from than it it did
ever before because there's so much
variability and there's a lot of
variability on what are going to happen
to countries like are the countries
going to specialized like you said are
they going to upskill or up educate you
know what I mean some do some don't
right um I think it's always like this
at the end of the day it's sort of like
the there's like everything that's
happening in the world on these macro
trillions of dollars GDP scale it's like
a chef a chef is cooking this dish but
Andrew every human is like belonging to
a different ingredient and sometimes
we're the main star of the show we
happen to be the piece of steak and the
chef is cooking a steak that day but
sometimes we might be the onions and the
carrots and the onions and the carrots
they're just used to soak up some spices
and they get kicked out of the the dish
before it's even served so I'm saying it
just depends on what ingredient you are
but the chef the chef's kind of cooking
what it's cooking but we're all just
ingredients in this big old world of
ours anyway guys let us know what you
think about Mexico becoming the number
one impor to the US overtaken China
first time in 20 years good bad this
that let us know in the comments section
below until next time with the Hop poop
boys we out
peace
