Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791) was one of the most influential, popular and prolific composers of the classical period. A child prodigy, from an early age he began composing over 600 works, including some of the most famous pieces of symphonic, chamber, operatic, and choral music.

Violin Sonata in A major, K.402/385e (incomplete)
Fugue probably completed by Maximilian Stadler (1748-1833)

I. Andante, ma un poco adagio (0:00)
II. Fugue; Allegro moderato (6:42)

Isabelle van Keulen, violin and Ronald Brautigam, piano

Mozart left the fugue uncomplete. The completion is by Maximilian Stadler. Since the holograph is lost, Stadler's contribution is not clear. Constanze Mozart wrote, that "half of the fugue is work by Mozart" ("zur Hälfte Mozarts Arbeit", letter to Breitkopf & Härtel, March 1st, 1800). Cf. Critical Report to NMA VIII,23 p.131 (german).
Kirkendal (1979) suggests, for stylistic reasons, completion may begin after F major entry in bars 51-5.
