Miranda Sings, the YouTube persona of Colleen Ballinger, is an iconic figure in the online comedy sphere. Born in 2008 as a satire of pretentious and delusional performers, Miranda's comedic videos feature off-key singing, malapropisms, ludicrous dance moves, and absurd tutorial videos, often resulting in cringe comedy.

Ballinger used the character to critique the culture of self-absorption and lack of talent promoted by social media, garnering a considerable following. By 2009, Miranda's YouTube channel began gaining traction and, in 2010, Ballinger took the character on a comedy tour, performing to sold-out audiences across North America and Europe.

The channel garnered over 10 million subscribers and 2 billion views, creating a loyal fanbase known as "Mirfandas." Ballinger’s fame as Miranda Sings landed her a Netflix original series, "Haters Back Off!" in 2016-2017, exploring Miranda's family life and her path to fame, making her one of the first YouTubers to secure a deal with the streaming giant.

Beyond YouTube, Miranda is a frequent guest on talk shows and often collaborates with other YouTubers and celebrities. Despite controversy and criticism, the character's intentionally off-putting and awkward humor has had a significant influence on YouTube culture and paved the way for other YouTubers.
