The group stages have been and gone,
and it is knockout football time at the Khalifa International Stadium
as Iraq face Jordan in the round of 16.
Iraq top their group in fine style with three wins from three,
and the 2007 winners are daring to dream
that they could go all the way once again this year.
Coach Jesus Casas has promised to retain the team's exciting attacking style
for the knockouts.
Striker Ayman Hussain is likely to be key in that regard.
The forward has scored in every game so far,
and he'll be leading the line again today.
Jordan reached this stage as one of the best third-place teams
for the big win over Malaysia,
and a very creditable draw against Korea Republic
suggests that they're not to be taken lightly.
They've made no secret of their desire to be the next side
to cause an upset at this edition of the AFC Asian Cup.
It's Iraq who've been on top so far, but here comes Jordan.
Ali Ulwan plays a neat one-two in there.
Ulwan has the shot, goes near post.
Jalal Hassan, the goalkeeper, was quick enough to get down to it,
and Jordan are growing into the game now as we approach 20 minutes gone.
Iraq cross is swung in from the left.
It's headed out and away to Hussain Ali.
Controlled it nicely and took it on the half volley,
which flashed just wide.
Iraq going close, and this has been a very balanced game so far.
It's the Jordan captain Ehsan Haddad who plays it in directly over the top.
Ali Ulwan was through.
He had the pace to take it on.
Ulwan against the keeper,
and it was the keeper who came out on top.
Ahmed Yahya got it to Ibrahim Baish.
Baish looks for the far corner,
and Abu Deida, the goalkeeper, flying across his goal to make the save.
This has been an excellent first half, but which way is it going to go?
It's punted up for Moussa Atamari.
He's somehow still going here.
Atamari, this would be sensational for Jordan if he could go all the way.
Hassan gets down to make a vital stop, but what a goal that would have been.
A mix of skill and luck in the solo run.
How did he get that far?
Iraq looking downfield, but it's given away quickly.
Al-Neymat, he's got the pace to beat the defenders.
Can he keep his cool in front of goal?
You bet he can.
That is a tremendous chip finish.
He sat the keeper down and Jordan strike in first half stoppage time.
And you know what?
They're good value for the lead.
Another break is gifted to them.
Could there be another shock on the cards here?
Jordan lead after a brilliant first half.
Iraq starting strongly in the second half here.
Hussain Ali Haidar with the shot.
It's pushed away well by Abudaila.
Iraq do not want time to slip away.
They're going for the leveller.
It's Jassim's corner and it's headed in by Saad Natak.
The simple set piece is the key in the end for Iraq.
And they're back on level terms.
It had been coming and it is game on once again here.
Natak the defender getting up highest.
Dosky is free on the left for Iraq.
His cross is only glanced on towards Ayman Hussain.
What a finish.
And Iraq have turned the game on its head.
Incredible scenes here.
Hussain has scored,
but his celebration has been deemed overexuberant.
He's got a second yellow card.
Iraq down to 10 men, but in front.
Incredible.
It's Urwan's cross headed back to Nizar Ishtan in the D.
Oh, penalty shot there maybe.
Altamiri picks it up.
Still going for Jordan.
Oh, the shot saved, but the rebound will be turned in.
Arab was there to finish it,
and the penalty claims won't matter for Jordan.
He stayed onside and it's 2-2 deep into stoppage time.
Iraq could not hold on.
Jordan have the man advantage.
They're not thinking about extra time just yet.
Ratib gets it back to Nizar Ishtan.
Iraq's title hopes are suddenly in tatters.
And Jordan have surely won this.
It's an Asian Cup classic, a superb finish.
And just look at the Jordan celebrations.
It's Jordan's fans who are jumping for joy.
It is all over for Iraq, having been just moments away
from the quarterfinals.
The late, late show from Jordan gives them the win.
And after a remarkable game of football,
they will advance to meet Tajikistan in the quarterfinals.
Iraq 2, Jordan 3.
The final result from the Khalifa International Stadium.
