20-year-old pianist Niu Niu will be releasing his début album with Universal Hong Kong. From Mendelssohn’s Rondo capriccioso to the Impromptus by Schubert and Chopin, from the profound Liszt B-minor Sonoata to the tribute work to Schubert, the new album sees Niu Niu’s transformation from child prodigy into mature concert pianist.

“When I was really young, I thought of music mostly as beautiful melodies and fast, virtuosic passages. But as I grown up and studied deeper into the pieces, I started to see the music as a whole. When I play this Mendelssohn “Rondo capriccioso” again, I see much more nuance. Some passages still seem simple, but they fit together in a more complex emotional web.

The album was recorded at the prestigious Emil Berliner Studios in Berlin, by the 4-time Grammy Award winner and engineer / producer Rainer Maillard.
