Vended's Jeremiah Pugh - GEAR MASTERS Ep. 479

[Applause] hey this is JJ from vend dead I'm here on tour with uh bullet my Valentine and a m men here's here's my stuff this is my number one base it's kind of dirty I mean I just cleaned it but it's still kind of dirty we kind of up our gear a lot in all honesty but uh it is a normal Fender Jazz space body and I'm endorsed by Illuminati which makes these amazing beautiful aluminum necks everything they sound great um they're Hollow they're made out of uh aircraft grade aluminum and it isn't isn't too heavy but I mean I still like a heavier instrument in general I'm a bigger guy also has a fatter neck too I just have big hands I found these necks when we were on tour with Code Orange and Joe their base player had one of these necks on his bases and I thought it looked so sick and badass and I didn't really think of the tonality and everything I just want one cuz it looked cool in the first place but then you know I realized when I got it these necks are amazing it has no trust Rod so it's never ever going to move if when you're going from cold to hot or planes or I mean I've thrown this thing a couple times like nothing's ever going to break and it stays in tune like crazy it's like an evertune for base but just a neck essentially we recently just got contacted by lace uh pickups and they sent all of us some pickups for this tour and I'm using the lace man of war Jazz Bas pickups usually the logo is actually red but I asked them to make me a blue one and they said yes which was sick and all for my volume and tone everything's just all the way up all the time um sometimes I roll off the tone for some parts of stuff to get like a subear kind of Base tone but I don't really do that too often strings we use uh we use Ernie Ball strings all of us use Ernie Ball strings um I just used the regular base 5 I uh used the 130 pack I uh skipped the 100 and I just go 130 80 65 45 all the way down that's what shavo did from system of down so that's what I do so tuning uh we all play in dropy um we do have one song in drop B and I don't switch bases or anything but yeah we all land dropsy this base pretty much the same as the other one except for it as a PJ setup this is just my backup I painted it a while ago and I did not paint it very well obviously cuz all the came off now this is just like a fender Squire base that I just po basically put new rims on it essentially but uh this was uh the original neck that was on my number one and this is like the Chrome look it's super dirty right now but sorry we're not very clean um but anyways yeah this is just my backup it isn't anything special but I do love this thing I still play it every now and then we do everything that we all have comes in an anky case these cases are absolutely amazing they've been on so many flights through hot and cold I've thrown them downstairs before I've done literally everything like everything you can do I'm not joking I said have thrown it down the stairs before cuz I felt like it and everything was safe inside so yeah that's awesome um we do also use sure wireless um we use the 814 Q I think the the really big the the four channel one yeah these things are absolutely great I also use dunlaw picks I use the point a88 flows um I've been through so many picks throughout my like two in career so far and I've just settled on these now these are the best ones you never know next month I may be playing it different one but this is just why I'm using right now so I start by saying I use hearty amps this is the LX 8500 I recently got indors by them lately and they're absolutely amazing they absolutely the best stuff ever I've always wanted like a good portable head that still has like a tube sound it has the class a tube preamps in it it's 800 WTS it's an absolute Beast everything is at noon except for the gain I don't run any drive in it yeah and then the compressor is at noon soono just just enough so I don't get any like crazy level fluctuations or anything like that coming out of the hary we go into the tech 21 sansamp RBI this is my bread and butter literally everything this this is just like my only pedal or rack unit only thing I really use this is absolute best sounding preamp ever I think it's better than anything else that's on the market and this has been around the world with me it's road Ro we got throwing it through a bunch of crap the samp uh most most of my stuff is kind of on noon um because my neck and my base is so bright I dial down the presents in trouble and then I add a little bit more base and everything a little bit more drive and yeah it's pretty much it it's set up pretty simple that's always on and then it also goes into a cord pitch black tuner these things are cheap as hell and it's been around the world with me too and it's never broken or anything it's a tuner it turns on it works we all know how it works all that is going into all the Parky cabinets I have the HD 410 and then I have the HD 1X 15 these cabs are amazing and I love running two cabs it's so much easier to carry around and stuff yeah these cabs sound amazing they're light as hell too so I do have one more pedal in the back it's just a boss ns2 noise suppressor which just to stop any hiss or anything follow vended official um we just released a new single out it's called am I the only one it should be on every single platform iTunes Spotify your mom's bedroom I don't know it's everywhere
