NOT A GOOD ALLOTMENT IDEA! / ALLOTMENT GARDENING FOR BEGINNERS

oh my God I'm [Music] shaking nope nope nope [Music] nope morning guys did I say it was cold yesterday I lied it is cold today I think it's likeus one everything has got frost on it everything's frozen over but here I am as usual walk into my allotment plot probably most likely going to be one of the only ones on the entire site today but I love it to be honest the sun's out it's beautiful it's not raining it's freezing but it's nice to get out in the air so let's go and see what we find today I wanted to come and get a Big W barar full of wood chip today but I don't know if I can now if it's all frozen over no I don't think I can it's completely frozen over I don't think I'll be able to get that I might be able to I don't know if it's just worth trying yeah I think I might try I think I might bring the w Barrow just try and get at least one wheelbarrow full of it cuz I don't know when we're going to get another delivery and it's really stressing me out cuz I got that lovely new Pathway to finish now yeah let's get the W Barrow and see if we can grab one this plot here was the one where all the rose beds are completely flooded I wonder if they're frozen over now let's have a look I think they are see where the water was I think oh my gosh that is completely frozen over you know what Einstein and the fox and Rocky might be able to do some ice skating on that one if I would be able to nope nope nope nope not sure if you heard that cracking on camera but I certainly don't want to be responsible for breaking anything of anyone's at this alotment plot but um no it can't withhold a human being but Rocky might be out to have a go not that I've seen him recently but you know if you wanted to completely forgot that this was filled up oh hello Einstein you made me jump I didn't know you were there hello um I didn't know this would be Frozen um I forgot to empty the water out of it what an idiot right let's try and break this well that could have gone one of two ways and I'm very glad it went the way that it did I almost got completely splattered with like ice water that wouldn't have been Pleasant right that's all emptied out let's go and see if we can get a little bit of windship we'll give it a go we'll give it a good go come on God okay guys I don't know if I just woke up on the crazy side of the bed but that was not very uh not very good idea really because all the wood chip obviously was completely Frozen I think I'm going to put it on this path I do have a path behind me that needs wood chipping still but I'm absolutely desperate to see what this path looks like with the wood chip around it I think I've just I think I've nailed it with this path I think it's a thing of Genius particularly now that all the ground is frozen so it's not slushy anymore I think I'm going to whack it around these patio slabs and see what it looks like with the wood chip oh I'm excited now just thought I'm used to just dumping it but I think I'm going to have to actually distribute it properly right okay the thing is the last thing that we need right now is the rain coming back and bothering us with all those sludgy puddles again so I think it is it is important I to just sort of distribute it try and unfr it I need a hair dryer so I need hair dryer I'm going to dump it I'm going to do it I don't know what I expected it to do I think I'm just going to dump it and then move it off know I know I'm being incredibly fussy and silly about something very very small and and in a grand scheme of things here it doesn't really matter but I think I just had a misalignment with what I thought that would look like and what it's ended up looking like and I feel like I've done it wrong and um I don't know I don't know it's all right Emma stop your moaning stop your whining it's all right when it's got all the the beds next to it and stuff and the little Pathways that look fine and it's it's all Frozen as well I'm just in a weird fussy mood I don't know what's wrong with me to be honest right need to pull myself together now the good news is because I've lost complete motivation with the back of my alotment I actually can't do anything here anyway cuz it's totally frozen totally frozen so bling happy about that I've never been so relieved to get to my plot and find it undable but that is undable there's no point doing that it's a waste of my time so I need to find other jobs to do today so I've got the wood chip and thinking over here well firstly let's feed Einstein because he's hopping about I can see him flying around he's been flapping around so let's get in some [Music] worms I have just noticed that my pond is frozen over so I'm going to unfreeze that or just on the off chant there is a living creature in there I doubt it but but we can dream totally frozen over totally totally totally so let's get that unfrozen okay there are any frogs in there they've definitely just been impaled tell you what though the pond plants are still very much alive so I redid my pond last year and cuz it was just I just let everything die this is alive some nice little reads look at Shard of um ice look at that isn't that beautiful I hope that's ice and not yeah it is ice wow right you go um yeah this is nice and alive and then I got these which I think are like the buttercups and that go in the water I've also got some forget me knots and I've got some of these as well actually that might be the same plant as I just said yeah there's lots of different green things in here which is good green is good green means alive so that's really excellent and then I did put some um bulbs around so we've got the um irises coming up these come up every year beautiful um I also got chew lip bulbs but I can't see them coming up yet I did plant some shrubs around the Sid a little while ago they keep getting overtaken with weeds so I'd have to keep deweeding them but they are still alive that's the point very often when you're growing your own food or flowers or growing a garden for the first time it's just about keeping it alive is it green is it living great brilliant you're you're succeeding you know that is it sometimes so just take the small winds where you can that's the pond sorted that's the pathway done the other thing I wanted to do today um just while it's not not really diable or anything is to sort out the apple tree I wanted to have another go at it because I don't think I did a good enough job so this is currently my little apple tree um that I found on the plot when I basically was cutting it back and it had a lot of apples on it so I know it's quite a a healthy tree the thing is is it's bending right over you can see how it's just completely bent over like a banana tree but it's not banana tree it's an apple tree um I propped it up the thing is as a lot of you said unless you take off that really Long Branch it's never going to stand up straight and I've starting to see it now I can agree with you I think yeah I think more needs to come off it's a bit of a shame because I don't want to take too much of the tree off firstly I'm scared I'm going to kill it cuz I don't really know what I'm doing and secondly I actually want some apples from it next year and I'm scared that if I cut it back too much the tree will sort go into shock and not going to be any apples I don't know if that's a real thing but I would if I was a tree and someone like chopped my head off I'd go into shock you know I've be well shocked found this yesterday and I was digging so someone was clearly taking care of the tree if that is still sharp that would be amazing we'll try and use this and then if it's too blunt I'll use my blunt saw can't be any worse than my already blunt saw so either way it's going to get a blunt haircut and that's [Music] it [Music] right how's that look oh it looks sad now just looks sad just looks like it just looks like I've taken its like head off oh I do understand it though cuz that Branch it because it was like hanging so over it really was pulling the weight of the tree down I might just take that little Branch out as well cuz that's really hanging over the [Music] [Music] pathway yeah you know what I think I might have actually helped it and not not killed it this by the way this is actually quite sharp it's quite good it's a little bit blunt though but I think I need to get a new one of these These are really useful whatever this is I think it f folds down doesn't it I don't really want to try because it's a little bit Rusty I think it like folds down and then folds up I think it's for cutting trees I'm pretty confident that is a tree cutting device yeah it it does it does seem to be I mean I can push the tree sort of up more now yeah there it was really heavy before to do that with so it looks a little bit sad but it does look more of an upright looking tree now so hopefully that will sort of really encourage it to I don't know really I don't know if it can grow up now that was worth doing um but we we'll find out I guess as soon as the apples start to come we'll just find out that's just the way it's going to have to be cuz I don't really know anything about [Music] trees is this another problem imminent problem this tree here from my perspective it looks like it's wobbling a little bit more maybe the wind has blown it down a little bit more um it's really like on a slant isn't it oh dear I've never noticed this before but watch what happens when I push on that sort of smaller one [Music] minging no that one is solid that one is moving and that one is solid the little one's moving like quite a lot now this smaller one it's got quite a lot on it and if that comes down it's going to go right over their sheds and stuff that needs to come out I think I have no idea how to do that though I mean I do know just bigger saw bigger sharp saw right just chop it just chop it down can I just do that yeah it's looking like it's snapping a little bit like it's it's not not this this is just bark but you know what I mean it feels like it's going to just go I don't want it to go on me oh look the root of the trees come up too no it is a problem it is a problem that's the root of the tree it's been up uplifted in the wind and I haven't noticed that's actually quite hazardous that is an impending situation so I'm not even joking seriously something is wrong with me so in the in the time it took me to put my camera down about 2 minutes I made the snapshot decision to cut this bluming tree down I don't even know where this decision came from it's very stupid all I've got is a blunt saw I'm like halfway through the tree trunk with the bluntest saw you could possibly own I don't know why I decided to do this um I literally just put the camera down for two seconds and I was like I'm just going to chop the tree down now oh my goodness it's only taking me about um 6 7even minutes to get that far in so I think the tree really is like bending which is making it a bit easier but I I might as well just keep going because don't know I started now so I should finish no you can't sit there you can't sit there mate I'm about to chop that drown no you can't sit there come on off get off is that you trying to stop me he's trying to stop me he's like what are you doing right it's so blunt [Music] found i p my [Music] camera oh my God oh my God oh my my God oh my God that was a big mistake that was the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life oh my God oh my God I'm shaking oh my God okay it's fine it's fine everything is [Music] fine I'm really freaking out what did I [Music] do [Music] [Music] well there you go there's a lesson for all of us don't get bored at your allotment plot and decide to cut down a massive tree that was a lot bigger than I thought it was my goodness me I cannot believe the size of it it didn't look that big when it was up in the sky and then as soon as it came down I was like I had made a big mistake here but at the same time that came down so easily I literally so that for about 8 minutes 9 minutes and um the whole thing came down so I'm really glad I wasn't walking under it you know big gust of wind I could have been killed so now we just got this to get rid of fantastic absolutely brilliant some more stuff to get rid of thank goodness I didn't make the back of the plot up yet that would have been an absolute nightmare but yeah I mean I I saw that up that would be fine lots of sticks um added to the barrier I guess wow well if you made it
