I'm in Da Nang City, Vietnam. Today I'm going to try the iconic Vietnamese
sandwich, Banh Mi. I have a couple of places lined up to go and visit and I've
also got a local recommendation and I'm going to try some random ones along the
way as well. Join me, let's go. So I just grabbed myself a salted coffee, so this
is taking over Vietnam by storm. I haven't seen it outside of Vietnam, it's
just a really delicious like salty cream with a black coffee. It's so, so good, so
addictive.
So this is the first top-rated Banh Mi stall that I'm going to try. I found it
on Google Maps and it had more than a hundred five-star reviews.
I'm trying the char suey, which is a Cantonese style barbecue pork. The lady
told me that that's one of the best-sellers, so I always go for the best-seller, wherever I go.
So let's have a look inside.
So inside you can see cilantro, a lot of pork and some mayonnaise and some
vegetables as well and herbs. I love the way that they make it freshly in front
of you every time and it's not just sitting there in the hot sun, so that's
always a good thing. Oh yeah, it's really spicy. She asked me if I wanted spicy or
medium, but I chose medium. Luckily I got this iced coffee, so ah, that's better, I
couldn't speak. Yeah, if you didn't know, the coffee culture in Vietnam is
absolutely exceptional. You're going to try the best coffees of your life when you come to Vietnam, so definitely don't miss on that.
And they pair perfectly with the cranberry as well. Let's go to the next one.
And that's it. Take away, please.
So, I'm at my second place. This is a highly rated place on Google Maps as well. I came
with a Grab motorbike taxi. It was quite chaotic, because I was trying to film, I was
trying to film with one hand and hold on the back of the motorbike with the other hand.
And he was driving really really fast, so yeah, that was fun.
And also my helmet kept falling off back and back.
So we were just over here by the river, and now we're here next to the, near to the sea.
So it's quite a different vibe here, it's more like a beach holiday atmosphere. It's
really chilled out, and this place is really popular. On Google Maps it has a 4.7 out of
5 for like 700 rupees.
This smells really good actually. So this is a traditional baguette, then it's got Vietnamese
pork, Vietnamese sausage, and it's got mayonnaise on the bottom, some lettuce, and it does smell
pretty spicy, I've got to say. It looks, oh it looks really good actually.
Let's give this a try.
Oh yeah. I can see why that place is really popular. This is very very delicious.
It's got this really refreshing cucumber and all the different herbs, and then a lot of sauce and all
kinds of flavours from the meat.
The meat and the sausage is superb.
Oh, this is one hell of a sandwich.
So this is the Um Van Mien cafe, it's near to the beach. So far, this is my favourite.
Delicious.
Hello.
So this is pork belly, and he's turning it around on the sticks and putting it over the charcoal grill in a
big pot. And this is where I'm going to try my next banh mi.
So I'm assuming that this has been open since then, so that's a long legacy.
So this is a random find. We were just walking along some streets and we just saw the way that he was
cooking the pork belly and we were like, it smells amazing, so let's try this.
So it's a classic crispy French baguette, and then inside, oh my god, a lot of pork belly. It's really crispy.
Then all your usual herbs and cilantro and cucumber and everything. I can't wait to try it, let's just try it.
Oh, that's really good.
Oh, that's really delicious.
The bread tastes different, like you can taste a bit more of the rice flour in this baguette.
It's so unique, it's delicious.
The meat is so succulent.
It's a little bit spicy, but it's got a lot of flavour and a lot of different textures, so I highly rate this sandwich.
It's really good.
So on the sign on the main road, you can see that it used to have an old traditional store before,
and now it's turned into a bigger establishment to accommodate more customers, so it's growing in popularity and it's becoming very well known.
Finally found it.
Wow, so cute.
Hello.
Can I have one of the banh mi?
Yes.
One?
One, yeah.
Banh mi Col Thien.
We actually couldn't find it on Google Maps, but the security guard over the road helped us find it,
and it's just down a little alleyway off of the main road, and then around another little alleyway again.
I can actually see him pointing some other tourists to come this way as well.
They couldn't find it either.
So it's very, very popular with locals and tourists.
Oh, it's been cut in half, that's good.
Oh my god, look at the amount of meat in here.
Ah, nice.
I can see it's got pork floss, all kinds of different sausage and meat.
It's got beef and pork in it.
It's got pate, and you've got cilantro and cucumber.
Oh, let's give this a try.
Let's go.
Ah, this is packed with flavour.
This is really, really tasty.
They're all so different and all so amazing.
Mmm.
Follow me.
So this is the last place that we're going to try today.
It was a local recommendation.
It's right beside Pan Market.
It's called Happy Bread, so let's go and give it a go.
Ah, that one.
Okay.
Can I get one of these please?
Let's see.
Ah, do you want half a sandwich?
Try.
Yes?
Ah.
Okay, thank you.
Yeah, nice.
Oh, that's really good.
It's got a lot of barbecue taste.
And it's nice and spicy.
And it's got a lot of flavour.
I really like this one.
Definitely top rated, this one.
Really good.
It's very, very hard to say.
Extremely difficult, because they're all good.
But my favourite one is the om banh mi over by the beach.
I think that had the best atmosphere.
And the tastiest sandwich overall.
But they were all absolutely amazing.
So, wherever you try banh mi, you're going to have a good experience.
Goodbye.
Here, over there.
Oh, over there?
I just took a wonderful rickshaw ride in Da Nang city.
It's an absolutely beautiful day.
I hope you enjoyed the video.
Looking forward to Da Nang's best banh mi.
And we'll see you in the next one.
Bye.
