The Sack of Rome: "Gravitas," by Andrew Benson Brown
A visual reading of a poem I wrote about the Gauls sacking Rome in 390 B.C., in the ballad style of Macaulay's "Lays of Ancient Rome." It centers on the old Roman patricians—in particular, Marcus Papirius—who refuse to flee the city and await the barbarians. It was published on The Society of Classical Poets website in June 2022.
