HOKO - BUS INVADERS Ep. 1842

hey this is hoko and we are in Chicago on our us summer tour first US summer tour supporting almost Monday and weathers I'm Jesse he's Nathaniel And this is our van we haven't named it yet um you have any ideas nameless nameless it will remain nameless but it's your classic V8 Trion yeah it's a good good vehicle solid stuff really E350 this is where we need to go so basically I don't drive too much I drive a little bit not much our friend Seth back there ourour manager he kind of drives us everywhere Willie our base player is typically the co- Captain he's usually pretty good co- captain during the day at night he's usually sleeping or past out um this is Jess's row my row and I'm the next one back and then we have gunner in the back and we have one empty space where if you just want to get really get away and get that extra 3 ft of space you go to that row basic rules up here it's good music don't leave your food overnight it's about it I came out the other day there was a hot there so it's yeah so that's the two rules yeah I think typically we try to let the driver um curate because he's the one that's in the driver seat so Seth's been playing a lot of Big Thief um shins I've heard a bunch of bunch of shins lately what else have you been playing great New York band called geese yeah they're sick um we go into some like more genius I've never really listen a boy Genius but I've loved them now that Seth's been playing them a little bit of Eno moricone when we were driving through the mountains in Arizona gave a lot of context to the landscape but yeah and so I mean we let Seth kind of do what he wants to do he's driving us he can listen to what he wants this trusty cooler right here is from our BAS player will he brought it um with the understanding that this is where we would keep sandwiches to eat while we were on the road but what's happened is the first week we had communal sandwiches um and then we just wanted to eat all the local food so we've just been eating Mexican non-stop we're about the deep dish pizza um so it's unused it just it's just an it smells kind of bad right armrest and uh trying to throw it out but really won't let me yeah we don't have a ox cable tape or CD so it's either radio or our trusty JBL up here this is fun fact this actually this is not our van we're renting it and the guy that rented this to us I I am from Pennsylvania it's where I grew up um we're renting a van from him he drives Amish people around to and from because they don't have cars so he rented us this F very kind man and um yeah it's uh it's a little older but it's been phenomenal no issues Prett good steady super steady so we uh we get in the car after a night in a hotel after a show get in my spot kind to put my bag down here this little Zone kick up with my pillow I've got my char you're here and I take out my phone and my airpods and I kind of just dive into a show the first week of the tour I watched Band of Brothers so I it like made the whole experience of being on the tour a lot more seeing what our grandfathers had to go through I was like this has been so bad I'm laying on a bench the mountains and the desert all around me that's kind of it just kind of chill and then somebody says something funny and we all sometimes we write songs back here yeah we've written a few good good songs a few good ones ethaniel here has a guitar that we use yeah I'm not going to play it right now but uh we have a few good songs that I think we'll actually record um usually when I drive I'll ask someone to play guitar and then write Melodies um but yeah this is my little section I have my Waters uh this is actually a PlayStation in here there's a TV that I have here that on chains that we hang up here and um sometimes we'll play a bit of uh Madden or FIFA and it's tough to play though cuz it rocks back and forth so but it's good it's good for long drives we haven't utilized it as much as I thought we would but um on the we started the tour in California so on the drive out I was playing a lot of Madden I don't know I'm not really I only play Playstation when we're on tour because it's like such a Time Warp um but I think I've been playing with the Buccaneers is that who Tom Brady's team is I think I've been playing with them because they're the best um and it's just easy so it's an old game so Tom Brady's still playing playing in our game Giants all day for me no can't play with another team no matter how bad they are it's my team yeah I just I me it's to win it pretty much we don't we actually haven't opened any of these we were at a gas station coming from Milwaukee and um some guy said that we were on brand for y b mate probably more so me with this sweater um but he gave us a case and this is a new collection we haven't had any yet I might have this on a day where like I need an extra kick but not a nighttime drink for me I like to just calm down and chill out this is kind of the uh like the Rhythm Section Zone back here we're not really we're not really sure what goes on back here we can't see this is this is our drummer gunar Olen this is his spot he kind of just chills back here on his phone he throws out the occasional joke um this is the the king size the California King bench uh with the extra leg room and I don't don't come back here cuz it's so bumpy it's like crazy bumpy back here it feels like you're on a boat um but Willie whenever he's not co-pilot he comes back here and lays down and I don't know what he does just passes out and sleeps I think um you know long drives you need to rest so I don't know I stay out of here this is where I keep some things that I pick up on the road that I don't want to break um I recently picked up this cool doll in New Mexico it's a a cacina doll very excited to put this into my house little little guy I like him um his name is mud head yeah so this is this is mudhead and he lives back here so gunar who is our drummer gunar olssen is like a huge uh snack guy we think but he's always getting these chips and he's like you got to try the chips bro um these are do pickle chips no this is kettle cooked Ruffles and they're limited time flavor which is all dressed so it's all the flavors and they're really really good Canadian favorite a Canadian he's a chip connoisseur and any chance he can get Canadian chips he loves them and own and then over here I miss Vicky's spicy Dill flavored which are oh they're not as good as I haven't tried these ones yet but apparently they're pretty good I love a I love a pickle chip Old Dutch barbecue now that's some good stuff that's that's the Old Dutch the Old Dutch pickle chips those those are the best ones Minnesota not Minnesota sorry Wisconsin feel like we got these in Wisconsin a lot of German Fs in Wisconsin um don't know yeah that's it that's oh here's here's the dill pickled one this one's empty but apparently these ones are really really good they're amazing but that's a huge part of like I feel like uh we stop so often to fill up with gas and everyone goes in you know use the bathroom and everyone buys snacks so snacks Across America is basically thing you do the most on tour so finding your snacks is kind of key don't know what's yours my goto snack yeah the other day I was eating pumpkin seeds um because I felt like I needed something somewhat healthy from a gas station uh but it kind of tasted like eating wood because they were roasted pumpkin seeds so I was like chewing on this wood and then I'd have these like wet wood Mountains in my mouth and then I'd swallow it down and drink a ton of water and I don't know I just like to keep it healthy you know a lot of in and out lot of enchiladas a lot of enchiladas yeah I like uh jerky I like finding good jerky so that's always my hunt but it's you kind of you kind of always end up with like the the usual like uh what's the one with the Sasquatch oh I don't need that yeah it's not good but it's very good no don't eat that I may be killing an opportunity for a uh slim gym tour but yeah I don't or maybe I don't know what it is but I do like the cowboy jerky if I'm going to do any yeah it's pretty good you like those like chicken patties that'll taste like sawdust n not anymore the what are they called raw raw dog no uh I don't know epic bars epic bar epic bars are good but I'm past that phas will sleeps in the backpack Gunner's got the snack the snack uh attack snack attack and yeah this is our this is our home for the next couple weeks where we keep all our stuff our instruments our suitcases and it's a lot of space sometimes I mean I feel like if the green room's not big enough at a venue like we could we thought about getting some lawn chairs and just setting up in here but we haven't done it yet let me get get the key this is Seth our tour manager The Keeper of the keys the keeper of user of us really um so yeah just hop right up in here yeah your guitars suitcases amps pedal boards drums suits we like to wear suits on stage different outfits kind of great actually it's a big it's it's a big trailer but it gives us a lot of space to like bu cachina dolls in New Mexico I got a cool Crystal really sick all the crystal is in the back but it's a it's like a huge Crystal from Z we do some like antique shopping you can f a couch in here but yeah it kind of works no no one's coming on the bus coming show we'll see you there from the stage bye come to the van there's free candy so that's we go to each City it's a candy van right if you come to the van free candy now some people say it's a little creepy we kind of double down the creepy but we actually have candy it's hoko brand candy you go on hoko cand cand uh we have candy eyes that's the first release uh and then the uh the second one is it's okay okay it's kind of like those hearts and each one says okay and um so you're going to come to the van all the candy you want you get to go for 15 seconds you just go as much as you gra if you don't leave the van by the 15 seconds we keep you you come to the next town you're locked in the trailer you're locked in and um so try to be faster than 15 seconds so just like work on it if you have like a gym you can go to a backyard like work on it time yourself because it's not our fault if we get to keep you for longer than 15 seconds why would
