St Kilda, Melbourne
St Kilda is an inner seaside suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 6 km (4 miles) south-east of the Melbourne central business district, located within the City of Port Phillip local government area.
St Kilda is home to many of Melbourne's visitor attractions including Luna Park, St Kilda Pier, the Palais Theatre and the Esplanade Hotel. It hosts many of Melbourne's big events and festivals.
St Kilda Pier offers panoramic views of the Melbourne skyline and Port Phillip Bay, and is a popular destination for a stroll, cycling, rollerblading and fishing. The pier has nearby barbeque, picnic and playground facilities or enjoy a snack from the restored heritage kiosk.
St Kilda Breakwater is now home to a colony of Little Penguins. The isolation of the breakwater is an ideal location for them to live and breed. Just before dusk you can view the colony climbing the rocks from the promenade on the St Kilda Breakwater.
Fine dining abounds: book a coveted spot at Donovans, Stokehouse and Cafe di Stasio. There's margaritas to enjoy at Radio Mexico. Catch live music at the Palais Theatre and the Prince Bandroom or a show at National Theatre and Theatre Works. See the latest exhibition at Linden New Art or a double feature at The Astor.
