Hello, and welcome to Queen Recaps.
A cute dog named Stubby has not eaten for three days.
He is extremely hungry.
He starts looking around for some food, but the owner of a restaurant scares him away
from his backyard.
Stubby runs away and wanders through the crowd.
He sees a woman eating a waffle and he gets extremely jealous.
In the streets, some infantry soldiers parade while the people cheer on them.
One of the soldiers named Robert takes pity on the dog.
He gives Stubby a little biscuit to eat.
Stubby eats the biscuit at once and he is thrilled.
Hoping for more, he runs after the soldiers.
The soldiers soon make their way to their camp.
Stubby wants to follow them inside, but the two guards use their guns to block Stubby's
way.
Stubby sees the soldiers walking away from him, but the guards won't let him go along.
Stubby is stubborn and digs the fence.
He slips right under it.
He makes his way in the kitchen.
He finds the cook preparing some steak and he wants a piece of that.
The cook sees him and chases him out of his kitchen.
Stubby runs outside and he stumbles upon Robert, bringing him down on the ground.
He sniffs all over Robert, but the man has no more biscuits.
Robert tries to tell Stubby to go away, but the dog likes him too much to leave.
Stubby stays alongside with Robert.
When the soldiers remain at attention, Stubby does the exact same.
While the sergeant inspects the soldiers, Stubby barks and attracts his attention.
The sergeant approaches him and instantly likes him.
He thinks that Stubby belongs to Robert and he orders the soldier to feed his dog because
he is hungry.
When the soldiers are dismissed, they go in the cafeteria to grab some food.
Robert requires to have two portions because he wants to feed Stubby as well.
The cook is reluctant, but he has no other choice since the sergeant has already given
the order.
The two friends enjoy their meal and then proceed to go to bed.
The next morning, the sergeant wakes everyone up abruptly.
Stubby has been sleeping with Robert on the same bed.
Stubby follows the soldiers and marches with them wherever they go.
He follows their morning routine until the sergeant allows everyone to be at ease.
Stubby is very happy to follow the schedule.
Right next, it's time for the soldiers to go through their training.
They have to overcome various hurdles.
When Robert fails on the pommel horse, Stubby motivates him to get up and try again until
he passes.
The two of them crawl together under the next hurdle on the track.
Stubby even finishes first and waits for Robert to catch up with him.
The sergeant has noticed Stubby's excellent performance on the track.
He even believes that the dog is much more skillful than many of the soldiers.
Later on, Robert plays with Stubby and they have fun.
The two of them spend more and more time together.
Before they go to sleep in the tent, Robert teaches Stubby how to stand tall and salute
like a soldier.
The next day, the recruits get a visit by the colonel.
The colonel notices Stubby and he is immediately fascinated by him.
Stubby runs around and then salutes the colonel like he is a real soldier.
The colonel approves of the bond that Stubby and Robert have developed with each other.
He decides that Stubby can stay with Robert.
However, Robert has to put a leash on Stubby because he is not allowed to take him along
to the war.
He asks the cook for a favor because he needs someone to look after Stubby.
The cook has no problem to take care of the dog and keeps him.
Stubby is very sad to see Robert leaving for the war.
Stubby escapes his leash and then runs out on the streets.
He uses his smell to track down which way Robert went.
Soon, he finds the train the soldiers have mounted.
He gets on board as well.
He runs to the port and sees the soldiers mounting the ship.
Robert is one of them.
Stubby is happy to see him again but knows that he will not be allowed inside.
No sweat.
He just sneaks in the cargo.
He waits patiently for a while.
Then it is time for him to make his move.
He carefully crawls across the deck.
He has to escape the guards unwatched.
Skillful as he is, he makes it inside the room where the soldiers sleep.
He starts sniffing around to find his friend Robert.
He finds a pair of shoes and shoves his nose in them.
He stops for a moment.
That's it.
He has found his friend.
He jumps on Robert's bed and the two of them are very happy to be reunited.
Another soldier, Olsen, warns them that Stubby is not allowed to be here.
But what can they do?
The dog is very persistent.
Soon, the soldiers are sent to battle.
When they first arrive, they are terrified.
Their French allies have been waiting for them.
The next morning, the Americans are attacked several times.
Many of the soldiers are injured while the newcomers witness the ferocities of war for the first time.
Robert grabs Stubby and he tries to protect him from the attack.
Stubby runs under the ruins and he discovers an injured soldier.
Then, he finds yet another one and Robert notifies the medics.
The medics take the injured soldier and Stubby runs beside him.
The man is very grateful.
He pats Stubby on his head.
Soon, Robert has to take upon another mission.
He meets with a soldier named Gaston and they will attempt to sneak behind the enemy lines.
When they do, they realize that the Germans have been preparing a poisonous gas as a means of attack.
On their way back to warn the others, they are ambushed by German soldiers.
Thankfully, Stubby spots them and saves both Robert and Gaston from the shots.
They manage to reach back to their horses, but their horses get spooked and run away.
Robert pulls up his mask and shows it to Stubby.
Stubby understands the message and runs away to warn the others.
Stubby runs back in the trenches.
Meanwhile, the Germans prepare their gas missiles and they are ready to launch them.
Stubby finds the sergeant and helps him understand he has to wear his gas mask.
While the sergeant sounds the alarm, Stubby also notifies the other soldiers.
Stubby knows that something is missing.
He runs inside the cave where the soldiers sleep and finds one of them.
The Germans launch their attack.
A missile explodes in the sky and the whole valley is covered in gas.
The soldiers wear their masks and remain sat.
Stubby runs to the nearest town and he starts
barking at the women who are doing their chores outside.
The women soon see the gas and realize that there is danger coming.
The residents wear their masks and lock themselves in their houses.
Stubby is left outside, but Robert and Gaston make it back and take him with them.
They enter a church and they wear their masks.
However, Stubby is unprotected from the gas.
Gaston finds a piece of cloth and he throws it on Stubby in order to use it as a mask.
The gas swallows the whole town like a huge monster.
The company of three walks outside and they see the gas all over the sky, almost like a cloud.
When the danger is gone, the residents thank Stubby for helping them and saving their lives.
When they return to the battlefield, they realize things are tough.
Stubby sniffs an injured man and realizes there are more of them.
He runs up the trenches and into the battle.
He makes a run through the battlefield, devoted to finding the injured man.
Eventually, Stubby finds him and notifies the others.
Robert wants to cover for him and go find him,
but Gaston does not allow him because that would be dangerous.
However, Robert can't let his friend alone and runs towards Stubby anyway.
The sergeant orders his men to throw some smoke to create cover for Stubby and Robert.
Stubby runs back to the trenches while Robert and Gaston shoot some cover fire.
All the men admire Stubby because he has helped them find numerous injured men.
Soon, the Germans prepare for a strong attack.
They bombard the American trenches.
Stubby understands that the Germans are charging towards their trenches
and he helps Robert and Gaston set up a trap.
Stubby distracts the German soldiers and they start shooting at him.
Stubby runs away and lures the Germans into chasing after him.
However, Robert and Gaston wait for them and ambush them from behind.
They force the Germans to put their weapons down.
Then, they arrest them.
The sergeant is worried for more incoming attacks.
Robert walks with Stubby.
They soon take their places again.
The Germans attack again and they throw bombs in the American trenches.
Stubby grabs one of the bombs and runs away with it, saving a number of soldiers.
However, Stubby is now injured.
Robert finds him.
He is very worried and carries his friend into his arms.
He takes Stubby to the doctor.
The doctor is afraid Stubby has no chance and he is not going to make it.
On the other hand, Robert and Gaston insist.
They force the doctor to take him.
One of Robert's comrades is also injured and he gets transferred to the hospital alongside with Stubby.
Robert misses his friend on the battlefield and he soon falls sick.
On the other hand, Stubby gets better.
He starts on a path back to finding Robert.
On his way, he finds two German soldiers and he steals their sausages.
Although he is injured, he runs with all his strength to get back to his friend.
Soon, Stubby makes it back and finds Robert.
He is able to cheer him up.
They sleep together.
Robert starts feeling better the next morning.
The two of them become the best friends and they soon get on a train to return back in America.
People wait for them to arrive back home and welcome them with all of their lover.
Stubby is put on top of a car and he is celebrated by the crowds as an American hero.
A photographer takes a picture of him, the dog that will stay in history forever.
