Marcus Aurelius' Rain Miracle and the Marcomannic Wars (166-180 AD)

This video covers the beginnings of a conflict known as the Marcomannic wars fought between a coalition of Germanic/Sarmatian tribes and the Roman Empire under the co-emperors Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus.

This was a turbulent time in Rome’s history with plagues and barbarian invasions pushing the empire to the brink of destruction. This episode will deal with Marcus Aurelius’s response to this crisis as well as a famous event during the war known as the “Miracle in the Rain”.
