Hawaii Travel Vlog: Staying at Fairmont Orchid Big Island

Hey everyone! Welcome back to the channel. So we made it to Hawaii! So this is actually both of our first times here in Hawaii. We are staying at the Fairmont Orchid on Big Island. And we are going to be here for the next couple of days. It's so beautiful, you guys. When you get to the airport, you automatically feel this sense of relief. Right now, the weather is perfect. And this hotel resort, which we're going to show you guys, is absolutely incredible. Fairmont Orchid is a 5-star hotel located right off the Paua Bay. We arrived and were greeted with beautiful, fresh orchid leis. And the 32-acre resort features a tranquil open lobby and beautiful gardens throughout. There is an award-winning Spa Without Walls with rejuvenating waterfall sounds, a few restaurants including Brown's, a large pool, and an oceanfront bay with plenty of activities. Plus, there is an 18-hole golf course and 10 tennis courts. And we're here on a very special trip. And we're going to show you all of the activities and all of the cool things that we're going to be getting up to. I think we need to head over to the bay and have a swim. Yes. The background behind you is just amazing. I really like Hawaii. I really want to come back. It's just, like I was saying earlier, it's so relaxing. And it's just, there's so much nature. We see, like, little animals going around everywhere. The weather is just perfect. It's not too humid. And there's so much to do at this resort and all the, like, water activities. It's so relaxing here. So there's a bay here almost. And it's, like, enclosed by rock. And you can snorkel. So they have snorkel gear here for rent. They also have canoes in the morning or throughout the day that you can do. We have been enjoying the sun all day. It is hot. It's super hot. But we are cooling down with some rum cocktails. I love a good rum drink, especially in a tropical place. It's just, it's the perfect blend to relax. And by the way, I just recently started traveling with a rash guard. A long-sleeve swimsuit. This one is a zip-up. It is so essential because I'm not hot right now. But my skin is still protected from the sun. And I can take it off on and off if I'm not under an umbrella. So, like, I will leave this link down below. It's so helpful to have. Even Al just ordered one right now because he doesn't have one. And it's just so good. And by the way, I just cannot get over how cute my swimsuit is today. It's from Tommy Bahama. And I feel like it just gives all the island vibe. So, I will also leave that link down below. We ordered some lunch. I think it's right here. Alright, we've got the hummus. These are rimmed. And this right here is so freaking good. This is the tuna poke. And it's fire. And we probably will eat this literally every day. We had an amazing day by the bay. And I'm so happy to report that I got a little bit suntan. But we came back to the room. And I thought I'd show you what room we're staying in. And give you a little room tour. We have a beautiful view ocean front right on the ground level. So, it's easy to get in and out. Our bathroom is nice and oversized. Which I love. And the marble detail is just so beautiful. We have a stand up shower. And they use Le Labo products. Which I love. It's Rose 31. It smells so good. Nice large vanity and all. My makeup is set up. Ready to go. And we also have a bathtub and another shower. And we have a nice king size bed. Really comfortable. And we have this amazing view. And the fun is that there's always some surprise in the room. We are greeted with a bottle of Selvarey. Which is a coconut rum. And it's also the reason why we are here on this trip. I'll go into more detail in a second. But we can make a fun Hollywood colada with Selvarey rum. Pineapple juice. And coconut water. And they gave us all the mixings. And this is a beautiful chocolate display. And look how cute these little turtles are. Isn't that the cutest thing you've seen? And this is all chocolate. It's really amazing. And now, let's take a look at this amazing view. The reason why we are here at the Fairmont Orchid is because Selvarey, which is Bruno Mars' brand, is having a fun pop up bar here on the property. So we are here for the opening of the bar. So tomorrow night, there's going to be a little party. We're going to try all the cocktails featuring Selvarey rum. And it's going to be a really fun time. We are all ready for dinner. We're wearing all white. Our favorite look. It's not even an all white party. But we're like, let's just match. I feel like we match on accident. But now it's like a thing that now we're matching on purpose. So yeah, we did plan this one. But we are headed to a group dinner at Brown. Which is a waterfront restaurant here on the property. And I'm wearing this really cute dress from Amazon. And yeah, so let's head off to dinner. Right? Wow. This is gorgeous. This brings us together as well. This evening is one minded. Aloha. Morning. Good morning. So in Hawaiian tradition, they do a blessing for a new thing. So we're going to see the blessing of the new rum bar that's opening up tomorrow. And they are going to also bless the canoes that have names now. And so we're going to go see the traditional ceremony. Anytime you embark on a new journey, it's a time to do a couple things. It's a time to make a break. To cut. To celebrate the past. Make that cut. To clean it. To cleanse it. To oki, we call it. And then to open the pathway to ke ala ho. A new beginning. Ke ala ho. And that's what we do today. So we're trying the breadfruit, sweet potato, and pork. And the paddlers eat this and then after what's left is a blessing to the ocean. Yeah, exactly. So it's now our turn to go on the canoe that's been blessed this morning. We're going to go out in groups of four and we have a chance to snorkel and do a little swim. Aloha. How are you? You guys are going to occupy the first two seats. One, two? Yeah, one in front of the wooden piece. Alright. If you choose to jump in the water, this is your anti-fog. Keep that in mind. So we are going to go snorkeling. Al's going to go in. I'm going to stay on board and watch the view. So after our snorkeling, we had a little lunch break and now we're actually headed on a helicopter tour over the entire island and I think it's going to be an amazing way to see. We're going with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and it's about a 10-15 minute drive from here. Alright, we arrived at Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and we're getting checked in. I'm super excited. Twice, it is worn around your waist. I know. This is our second time on a helicopter. So Al and I are actually on different helicopters because they do it by weight. Yes, that's okay. Or how are they distributed. But we're going to have a fun time. We'll show you both the POVs. Everyone's headed over there. Now it's time to go. Two. It's an LZ. Number four. It'll be here, right? Yeah. We just got back from the helicopter ride and it was so epic. Like, not even joking. Over the headset, they play like really cool dramatic music that kind of went with how you were like going in the air and the island has so many different kind of ecosystems. There are 11 of 13 all on this island itself. We saw the desert part. We saw all the amazing hills and the green land. It was like the coolest thing if you are in Hawaii. Definitely, you have to do helicopter tours. Oh, so epic. So we are just taking a break in the room before we head to our little party tonight, which is why we are here in Hawaii. We are doing the opening of the Selva Ray Rum Bar. So I'm going to get a bit glammed up for a fun evening out. Like this? Yeah. All right. So we had a fun little welcome cocktails, a few. Yes. With Bruno Mars. He was bartending and we did some shots and now we're headed over to another reception elsewhere on the property. And we've been enjoying. All the cocktails have really fun names. So it's a really fun bar to check out. It is a pop up, so it's not going to be here forever. But for the time being for the next few weeks, if you happen to be at the Fairmont Orchid, you can check out the Rum Bar right by the beach. We are partying in paradise tonight. We need y'all moving. We need y'all dancing. Would you guys mind if I play some drums? Bruno Mars, ladies and gentlemen. Good morning, everyone. We started off our day. It's a bit rainy, but we're having a group breakfast and a hula lesson. Breakfast spread is incredible. All of this fresh fruit is just amazing. So let me show you around. We do have the avocado toast here with some smoked salmon. We have the avocado here, some cream cheese. You can feel your hip muscles open. Muscles you probably haven't used in a while. Good job. We had a great hula lesson, and now I'm actually headed to the spa. It's called the Spa Without Walls. It's an outdoor spa, and it's surrounded by a beautiful waterfall. So I'm going to have a really relaxing and rejuvenating experience at the spa. So I had a traditional Hawaiian massage, and it was literally one of the best massages I've ever got. I highly recommend getting a traditional Hawaiian massage. I feel amazing. I feel like my back has been brought back to life. So we are doing a rum tasting today. Salvaré rum. It's good, but it's still alcohol, though. It's sippable. It's still alcohol, but it's really good. Boom. I'm going to go with one ounce. We want to make sure we get maximum aeration. Those proteins from that pectin unraveling and sitting at the top. And that is our daiquiri. Do we know how to make one at home now? So we are doing a rum runner cruise during sunset, and we're just out in the bay. The water is so blue, and we're having a great time. We also have our piña coladas, and they are delicious. Cheers! Today is going to be an adventure day. We are doing a half-day excursion off of the resort. A light hike. We're going to swim under waterfalls. It's going to be a great day. But first, we're going to head over to breakfast. And every time we come back to our room, there's always a new surprise, whether it's chocolate or something. And last night, this is what we got in our room. We got a Kona coffee and chocolate tasting. These chocolate-covered Kona coffee beans are so freaking good. I've been eating them all morning. Shortbread cookies and all of the desserts here are just incredible. We're about to go on the hike, and Fairmont has this awesome program. It's called Fairmont Fit. If you don't have any athletic wear, you can rent it out for the day. So Al got these shoes to wear because it might be a bit muddy, and he wanted to get his shoes dirty. And they also have socks you can borrow. It's such a cool program that you can work out if you don't have anything to wear. So Al's going to rock these shoes today. We're going into town. We're almost to our hike to buy some coffee. Hawaii is one of the states that make coffee, so I'm really excited to buy some beans. They take photos. What is this? Cattle bones. This is a jaw bone. Arm or a leg bone. Closing! You can just suck on it like a straw. It's not a lot usually. Oh my god, that tastes so good. It's so delicious, right? You just wish there was more in there. I know. Is there more? These are called yellow ginger. Yellow ginger. And it's the same plant of the ginger plant? Or it just has the word ginger in it? No, if you look at it, the root looks exactly like what you buy in the stores. It's just not an edible ginger. There's only one variety here on the island that's edible. After our hike, we drove over to an amazing viewpoint to have lunch with the view. We had little takeaway sandwiches. And the whole company organizes everything. So it's like a full on day trip, half a day trip tour. So if you're interested, I will leave their info down below in the description box. But let me show you the view and let's have some lunch. I have no idea if they chose them for you. And we also got some sweet Maui onion Hawaiian brand kettle style potato chips. The jalapeño. Oh, look at you. How cool jalapeño. And just like that, it is our last night in Hawaii. We are doing a nice group dinner together. And it's going to be a beautiful evening and sunset. There are beautiful, what are these called? Beautiful flowers like this all over the property. Whenever I find one, I always just pick one up. Most of my outfit is all from Amazon. And it's such a cute beach look. So let me show you a little outfit of the night. This is so pretty. A lei making? Oh. You were wondering how they were made. Oh, look at this. Salofa! Oh, wow. Okay. We actually, it's our last day here in Hawaii. This resort is just so beautiful. And yeah, we definitely are going to come back to Hawaii and enjoy. We just absolutely loved it. Today, we actually have a late red-eye flight. We leave at 10pm. So we actually have the full day here at the hotel. So honestly, the plan of attack is just to hang out by the pool, have lunch, and get as much sun as possible before our long journey back to New York. I hope you enjoyed watching.
