Simple steps to find the volume of a pyramid. The volume of a pyramid is the amount of space the pyramid takes up. The volune is found simply by dividind the base area of the pyramid by the height

Welcome to MooMooMath
Today we are going to look at pyramids and finding the volume of a pyramid.
A pyramid can take many forms and we have a square pyramid based on the shape of the base.
I can also have rectangular pyramid, hexagonal pyramid, and so on.
You find the area the same way.
Volume = 1/3 base area times height
This gives you what would be prism that it would fit inside of.
There are three pyramids for one prism so we multiple it by 1/3 in order to get the area of the pyramid.
Let's work an example.
We have a square base that is 6 by 6 so the area of the base is 36 square units.
So I will plug a 36 for the base area. The height of this pyramid is 5.
5 times 36 = 180 square units
I will then take that and multiply it by 1/3 because three pyramids fit inside the prism.
1/3 times 180 = 60 units squared
That is how you find the volume of a pyramid
Let's look at a quick example formula is v = 1/3 base area x height
Here is our example. We will look at a rectangular base
If I have a side of 3 and a side of 8 and a height of 5.
I would find the area of that pyramid by finding the base area by multiplying 8 x 3
Multiply this by 5 and you get 40 units cubed
That is how you find the volume of a pyramid
