Northern lights visible in Massachusetts Thursday night

if you've never seen the Northern Lights then tonight you might get a chance to see them and I'm very excited about this so let's ask 22 new Storm Team meteorologist Adam stco he's working for you with why we have a better chance of seeing this spectacular light show tonight Alana SI it's something we don't get to see too often here in Western Massachusetts but you might get to see the Northern Lights tonight the Northern Lights also called the Aurora Borealis occur when charged particles from a geomagnetic storm hit the Earth's upper atmosphere the charged particles from the Sun are redirected to the poles by the Earth's magnetic field we're actually going to be seeing a pretty strong storm tonight uh with clear skies you get out of the inner cities away from lights higher terrain you look to the north you might be able to get a little surprise and see a little bit of some green or purplish colors on the horizon now these are some pictures that were sent to 22 news earlier this year when the northern lights were visible in the ammer area now if you are able to get any pictures of the northern lights tonight you can send them to us at report it at wwlp.com working for you I'm 22 new Storm Team meteorologist Adam stumo
