A note of caution for iPhone users, especially parents. Police say the name drop feature in the iOS 17 update might pose a security risk. It allows users to share their contact information with other iPhones or Apple Watches by holding the devices close together. The feature is turned on by default with the new update. In a Facebook post, the Middletown Division of Police in Ohio urged parents to change settings on their child's phone to prevent any harm. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office in Michigan shared the concern, saying many people do not check their settings or realize how their phone works. To turn off the feature, go to Settings, General, and then click AirDrop.
