Malaysian Street Food || Incredible Char Kuey Teow at Chulia Night Market

I've tried dozens of char kuey teow during my travels across Malaysia, and what this shifu creates is by far THE BEST I've ever had. It's the perfect combination of chewy, savoury, crunchy, smoky, salty and sweet. The flavours were incredibly complex and the strong wok hei brought it to the next level.

If you don't know, char kwey tiao is an iconic Penang-Malaysian stir-fried noodle dish featuring chewy flat rice noodles, succulent prawns, crispy bean sprouts, and a complex and flavourful sauce, creating an addictive blend of smoky, savoury and sweet flavors.

This char koay teow uncle is well known in the area and recognized as one of Penang's char kuey teow masters. It was interesting to watch his techniques and see how they brought the dish together. Watch as he creates the iconic dish from start to finish.
