In this video I'm going to be sharing some easy breakfast ideas to make for your kids,
but not only are they going to be so easy to prepare, which is really important in the mornings,
but they're also going to be really healthy because I think it's so important to start
the day with a nutritious meal. It's hard enough coming up with what to cook every day for breakfast,
lunch, and dinner, but I think breakfast presents a special challenge because of the time. We just
woke up, the kids just woke up, everybody's hungry, everybody needs energy, but we don't have a lot of
time to create a meal and it's not the time to be super creative unless you thought about this
beforehand, which a lot of us don't. So today I'm going to share lots of ideas for you to get your
creative juices flowing and to give you some new ideas to try. And just because I named this video
easy breakfast ideas for kids, don't you worry adults, all of these breakfast ideas are really
delicious. You're going to love them too. They're awesome for the whole family, but I don't want you
to be a short order cook in the morning making different things for everybody because nobody
likes to eat the same thing. I think a lot of these ideas are going to be great for the whole
family to enjoy. Let's start with the easiest breakfast ideas. So these don't take a lot of
time to prepare. You can get them done really quickly and get everybody fed. And then I'll share
ones that take a little bit more time but are still manageable on a busy morning. Lastly, I'll
share some breakfast ideas that you can meal prep ahead of time. So they might take a little bit more
time to assemble and prepare, but if you do it in advance, then on the morning that you're serving
them, it's just going to take you a few minutes to bring it to the table. On the mornings when I don't
have a lot of time to be cooking in the kitchen and also sitting and eating for a long time,
these are my go-to breakfasts. At the top of the list for me is oatmeal. I've talked about this for
years. I've made this since my kids were babies and it is just so easy. It takes just a few
ingredients. It's very nutritious and filling. I add all the ingredients to the Instant Pot and
then I can turn it on, walk away, and we can do our morning things, go brush our teeth, get dressed
for the day, all of the things, and then come back and breakfast is ready. I can serve the oatmeal
with so many different things. There's so many different options to make it taste different and
exciting, not just, you know, plain oatmeal with maple syrup, but add some fresh fruit, frozen fruit,
peanut butter, lots of things to make it more exciting and interesting. Yogurt is another one.
Whether you make it yourself or buy it at the store, put it into a bowl and top it off with
lots of different things, either granola, fresh fruit, jam, lots of different options for that too.
Yogurt is definitely one of the easiest things you can serve for breakfast. Smoothies are one of the
easiest breakfasts that you can make in the morning. It takes no cooking at all. You just
put everything together in a blender and whip it up and it's so easy that even your kids can
make the smoothies themselves. Smoothies are a no-brainer. It feels like you're eating dessert.
It's so delicious. Kids love them, but one of my favorite things about making smoothies is that I
can sneak in so many nutritious things that my kids won't eat normally. I have a recipe for a
green smoothie that my boys love, so I'm going to share that recipe with you and I bet you your kids
will love it too. It tastes incredible and I think the green color sometimes can be a little bit
off-putting to kids, but this green color is so pretty. If your kids are not used to green
smoothies, I think this is the perfect one to start with because the color is such a happy
green color. It's not like a swampy, weird-looking green and once they try it, they're gonna love it
and ask you to make it over and over again. This smoothie is packed with so many nutritious,
very healthy things, starting off with yogurt. Yogurt is so good for you, full of probiotics.
It's so good for your gut and it's a great way to start the day with yogurt and then I also add
an avocado. The avocado, of course, is healthy, but it also gives the smoothie a really creamy
consistency. Then we also have several handfuls of spinach. Spinach is one of the best introductory
leafy greens to add to smoothies because it doesn't have too weird of a flavor. It's very mild,
but it's loaded with vitamins. Then we add a banana and some frozen fruit. I love pineapple
and mango. That's a great combination with the rest of the ingredients and the pineapple is so
sweet, you don't need to add any extra sugar at all. Of course, you need some sort of liquid to
make the smoothie the right consistency and in this smoothie, I actually like using plain water
because I'm using frozen pineapples. They're really sweet, so just water or if you want, you can use
some sort of milk or even whey. If you're making yogurt or ricotta cheese or something and you have
whey left over, you can use that in your smoothies. It's a good option if you're in a hurry or you
need to get out of the door quickly and you can even take it with you on the go. All right, guys,
give it a try. Is that good? Yeah. Awesome. How about you, Nathaniel? Is that good? Good.
Good. Another really easy breakfast option that my boys really enjoy is some English muffins with
some peanut butter, bananas, and honey on it. The peanut butter with the bananas and the honey, oh,
it's such a treat. If you use a healthy peanut butter, then all of the components to this are
really healthy and good for you, and it just takes a few minutes to put it together, too.
Next, let's move on to the breakfasts that take a little bit more time than just spooning some
yogurt into a bowl or making a quick smoothie. So they take a little bit more effort, but they're
still really easy to make. Eggs are an obvious choice for breakfast. They're so easy to make.
It takes just a few minutes to cook them, and they're really nutritious and filling. Have you
ever tried adding cottage cheese to scrambled eggs? It's so good. You guys are gonna love it.
Not only does it add extra protein to the eggs, but it makes them extra creamy and fluffy. It's
so easy. All you have to do is add a couple spoonfuls to your eggs, mix it up together,
and if you use an immersion blender, nobody will even know that the cottage cheese is in there
because it's gonna be all blended up and smooth. Even if you have family members who tell you they
don't like cottage cheese, give this a chance and try it because chances are they probably won't
even know it's in there unless you tell them. And it's just so delicious. I really like it. Usually
when people try it, they're like, hmm, why are these scrambled eggs so good? They're like a little bit
different. Whenever I've added cottage cheese to scrambled eggs, everybody loves it. I've never had
somebody tell me they don't like it. It's also a really great way to stretch your eggs. So if you're
making a lot of eggs and you're gonna be meal prepping breakfast burritos or something, I really
like to add the cottage cheese to the scrambled eggs. It makes the eggs really fluffy and creamy
and mixed in with all the other fillings that you're gonna add. It's really delicious. Another
favorite for my boys is banana pancakes. They love these. They're so good. There's no added sugar or
flour in the recipe, just a few ingredients. I really like using a blender to make the batter
for the pancakes. You just put all the ingredients in the blender, mix it up, it's nice and smooth,
and then you have less dishes to wash because it's all in one container. And I'm just pouring
the batter onto the skillet or griddle. The only time-consuming part of making these pancakes
is cooking them. The batter takes just a few minutes, and then if you use a griddle,
it doesn't take long at all. Meal prepping saves me so much time, and I'm always so grateful when
I take some time to do some meal prepping for some breakfast options for the week. It's awesome.
One of the things that I serve pretty much every day is some sort of fruit. So whatever is in
season, it's so nice to have fruit ready to go, washed, peeled, cut, whatever you need to do to
make it ready to eat. And then it's in your refrigerator and ready to be portioned out
and enjoyed by the whole family. Not only is fruit really healthy and something most kids will
love and devour, but when you have it prepped and ready to go, it almost guarantees that you're
going to actually use it up and eat it and enjoy it before it goes bad. If you have a little bit
of extra time, you can even make a fruit salad to make it even more special. So I have a recipe
of a fruit salad that stays fresh for days, and there's lots of different options of fruit that
you can use. So you can check out that recipe. It's awesome. Have a big giant bowl in the fridge
to enjoy all week. A few other things I like to meal prep is to make a big batch of yogurt. So if
you like making your own yogurt, it's awesome to make a big batch and then enjoy it in multiple
ways throughout the week. Oatmeal is another great option. Oatmeal is already really easy to
make, but if you make a big batch, it's even faster to reheat it and have it ready to eat the
next day. Hard boiled eggs are another great option. It takes just a few minutes to cook them
up and then peel them, put them in your refrigerator, and then just take some out,
enjoy them with some toast. Not only are they awesome for a really simple breakfast option,
but they're great for lunch too, to put on top of salads, to make an egg salad,
lots of different ways you can enjoy hard boiled eggs. I also like making breakfast burritos. So
I'll make a big batch and keep it in our refrigerator. And my husband loves when I do
this too. He loves breakfast burritos. We can switch up the fillings in there to make them
taste different. And then you just take it out in the morning, pop it in your air fryer or the oven
or on a skillet to heat it up or even in the microwave. And it's so good, really filling,
really easy and so delicious. I've shared my recipe for egg muffins before. You guys,
they're so good. They're just so delicious, really fluffy and tender. And you can use so
many different flavor options in there. So if your kids don't like certain things, you can use the
flavors that they like or just keep it plain and simple with just cheese or add some bacon,
sausage, ham, lots of different veggie options, whatever they like. And you can make some
different ones for yourself. Like I personally love the spinach and mushroom ones. Oh, so good.
So you can make different ones for different family members and enjoy those. Those are so good.
If you like Starbucks egg bites, you can make a homemade version yourself and they're so good.
So for my cheesy egg muffins, that is more like a batter. And I like to cook those first and then
just reheat them. For the egg bites, when I make them at home, I don't add any flour or anything
to it. This is a great recipe that you can mix up all the ingredients. And I use my blender to do
that. And then I pour it into a mason jar and store it in my refrigerator. And then I can just
pour it into the muffin pan the next day and cook it. So you can do it either way. You can either
cook them all, store them in your refrigerator, and then just reheat them or have the batter in
the refrigerator with the eggs and the cheese and the fillings, and then just pour it into the muffin
pan the next day to cook it. So I've done it multiple ways. This is one of those breakfasts
that you can get it started cooking in the kitchen, and then you can go get yourself ready.
And then by the time you're ready to go out the door or sit down to the table, the breakfast is
ready too. I really like prepping the egg mixture on Saturday night so that on Sunday mornings,
we can pop them into the oven before we go to church. It is awesome. Pancakes and waffles are
wonderful for meal prep. So the next time you're making them on the weekend, or you have a little
bit extra time, make a double batch or a triple batch, cook it all up, and then you can just reheat
it or you can even freeze them. They freeze really great. And then you can just pop them in your
toaster, crisp them up and warm them through. And it's so simple. Of course, I realize that pancakes
and waffles are not the healthiest option out there, but homemade is always healthier than a
store-bought version, especially if you use sourdough. I have an amazing recipe for sourdough
waffles or pancakes are so good. And if you serve it with some fresh fruits, some yogurt that rounds
it out and makes it a little bit of a better option. I think a lot of times what you need to
do is just not overthink it. Sometimes if we're stuck in a rut and making the same things over and
over again for breakfast, I think one of the reasons is because we are just too overwhelmed
and we think it's going to take too long to do something different. But there's so many options
of things that don't take a long time to do at all. And they're delicious. They're healthy and
quick to make too. So I hope all of these ideas that I shared in this video will give you so many
different options of things that you can try. None of these recipes are complicated in the least,
but I hope that it gives you a great resource where you can see lots of ideas in one place
when you need to come up with something different to make for breakfast.
