The Story Of Ancient Egyp - Season 03
**Abraham in Egypt:**
Abram, known as the "father of the faithful" and a proponent of Monotheism, faces a famine in Canaan, leading him to journey to Egypt. Having left behind city life for a nomadic existence, he reluctantly acquaints himself with a second form of civilization in Egypt due to the imperative of survival during a drought and famine in Canaan.
**The Great Invasion – The Hyksos or Shepherd Kings:**
Egypt, previously untested in major conflicts, faced a formidable challenge from the Hyksos or Shepherd Kings. Despite Egypt's initial lack of aggression, the invasion by the Hyksos changed the dynamics. The ease with which the conquerors were eventually expelled is attributed to the common historical phenomenon of conquering races experiencing rapid deterioration due to various factors, such as internal strife, exhaustion, and assimilation into the conquered culture.
**Queen Hatasu of Egypt:**
Queen Hatasu, also known as Hasheps, rises to prominence in ancient Egypt, taking control of the government despite her elder brother's legal claim to the throne. Initially aspiring to be remembered as a builder, she contributes significantly to the temple of Ammon at Karnak and constructs an elaborate temple at Medinet Abou near Thebes, showcasing advancements in Egyptian temple architecture.
**Thothmes III's Military Campaigns:**
After the death of Thothmes the Second, Hatasu's younger brother, Thothmes III, assumes the throne and demonstrates military prowess by leading campaigns into Asia. Despite Hatasu holding him in check for over two decades, Thothmes III achieves a decisive victory at Megiddo, capturing significant treasures and celebrating with grand festivals and offerings to the god Ammon-Ra in Thebes.
