Springfield's favorite holiday tradition is back. Bright nights at
Forest Park kicking off its 29th season. 22 News reporter Heath Kalb is live in
Springfield with a look at what's new this year at the very popular light
show. He
Adam holiday spirit is in the air and how could it not be with this fun
festive tradition with all these people here behind me, they still haven't put
the lights on officially, but they will be in just a few moments and that's
gonna set off holiday season. Now it's a three mile drive, including arches
and tunnels and larger than life displays with more than 700,000 lights.
Some of the displays that people will be able to see this year include
Suisland, Toyland, Victorian Village, Jurassic World, a replica of the
Springfield Municipal Group with Santa flying over, towering candles,
nativity, a large menorah, Kwanzaa displays and more. I spoke to Bright
Nights co founder Judy Matt. By the way, this year's yearly event is so
important not only for the spirit of Springfield, but for uplifting
everybody's spirits. Every time you turn on the TV or listen to the radio,
we hear all the sadness and all these, you know, uh, troubles that we have
and tonight and through when you come through bright nights, you can't think
that because it's just so uplifting. The lights will be lit nightly at five
p.m. And go through nine p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday,
Saturdays and holidays that include Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas,
New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. To date, Bright Nights has entertained
over seven million people and with it being open through January 1st this
year, that number should rise by a lot. Working for you live in Springfield.
