This is without a doubt my number one recommendation.
If you do not have a variation of this in your wardrobe, what are you doing?
Well hello there and welcome back to my channel.
If you are new here my name is Ciara.
I share videos on shopping for the best basics on the high street,
how to build a capsule wardrobe and lots of other good stuff.
So if that sounds good to you then do hit subscribe
because I would love to have you back for more videos.
So in today's video we are doing one of my absolute
favourite videos to do every season and it is my capsule wardrobe video.
I just love putting these together so so much.
If you've watched my other videos you'll know that I do my capsule wardrobe videos
a little bit differently and that is because I like to whittle it down to 10 essential pieces
and these are always my ride or die basics every season.
These are the things that I wear the most,
the things that always are my go-tos if I don't know what to wear
and these 10 basics are also the items that I will tend to spend a little bit more if I can
to get the best quality and to get the best fabric composition
because this means that these basics are going to last me even better
and they're just going to make my life so much easier.
So that is what I've done today.
I have 10 essential items that anyone should have in their capsule winter wardrobe.
As always everything will be linked right down in the description below.
I will also leave info on sizing.
If anything is sold out I will leave some alternatives
and I will also of course leave info on any discount codes that I can find
and you'll be happy to know that in today's video
I have an amazing exclusive discount code for you so I'm so excited to share.
So without rambling on too much let's get straight into it.
I'm going to share my 10 basic outfit staples for your capsule winter wardrobe.
Item number one in my capsule winter wardrobe checklist is the black turtleneck.
This is without a doubt my number one recommendation.
If you do not have a variation of this in your wardrobe what are you doing?
It's gonna make your life so much easier.
I live in a black turtleneck in winter.
They just go with everything.
They make everything look so chic.
You can dress them up.
You can dress them down.
To me this is my classic t-shirt in winter.
It's the item honestly I wear the most.
The one that I recommend above any others is the LilySilk cashmere silk blend turtleneck
and I'm wearing it right now.
The reason why this is such a fantastic piece is that as I said it's a silk cashmere blend
so it is so warm and cozy but it is so soft on the skin.
When it comes to knitwear I find that often knits if they're lower quality can be scratchy.
They can be itchy and as soon as they go into the wash they can disintegrate
and this is where when you invest in better quality
it really really shows the difference in how long these pieces will last you.
I'm going to take off my blazer and show you.
As I said it is that silk cashmere blend and that is why it's fully breathable.
It's so soft on the skin.
It's really really comfortable but it adds quite a bit of warmth to your outfit.
It's almost like a thermal layer in itself and it is without a doubt the best
turtleneck that I have found online or on the high street.
It just makes my life so much easier when I'm putting outfits together.
I honestly can't tell you how often I reach for this.
So you'll definitely have heard me talk about LilySilk here on my channel before.
I have so many great wardrobe basics from them but especially in autumn winter
their silk and cashmere blends, their knits are really where they shine
and I feel like if you're someone who enjoys knitwear and who doesn't in winter
having one or two of their pieces in your basics wardrobe
you are going to get so much wear out of them.
What I love about LilySilk as a brand is I feel like they're really fairly priced
for the quality of their products and they often do really great discount codes as well.
LilySilk have kindly given me an exclusive discount code for you.
It is for 15% off everything across the website including this stunning turtleneck.
The code is KIRAYT15.
I'll pop it here on screen and it gives you 15% off everything
but you can also use the code KIRAYT20 which gives you 20% off everything.
If you spend over the $500, €500 mark.
So I will leave the info for that code down in the description below
and I'll also leave links to this beautiful piece
and I have some other gorgeous pieces to show you.
Pick yourself up a black turtleneck and you can come back and thank me
and tell me all of the different ways that you're wearing it
because it is my number one outfit staple for winter
but we have nine other pieces to get through so let's get on to piece number two.
So moving on to item number two that I recommend it is a gorgeous knit
and the one that I have here is this absolutely beautiful cashmere knit.
This is again by LilySilk and I honestly wish that you could feel this through the camera.
This is one of their full cashmere knits.
It is a brushed cashmere and it feels heavenly.
It is so soft on the skin.
It was only when I started to invest in better quality knits
did I really realise the difference.
It is just so comfortable to wear.
It's really breathable.
It's not itchy at all on the skin.
It's going to cost you a little bit more but again the amount that you can wear this
provided that you take care of the item, you're really careful when you're washing it,
it will last you.
They're constantly worn on rotation because they're so soft and so comfortable
that I don't want to reach for anything else.
I think it's really easy to style with things in the winter.
It looks really good with darker colours, with blacks, with greys.
Again you could do an all tonal grey look.
I wore this recently with a beautiful like darker grey jacket,
a black mini skirt and some knee-high boots and it was just so gorgeous.
But again something like this is going to look beautiful tucked into jeans.
You can dress it up with tailored trousers, wear it to work.
Like with this turtleneck, you can dress these up for the party wear season as well.
Especially this type of cashmere knit worn with a beautiful satin maxi skirt
or like a plissé kind of pleated midi skirt.
There's something really elegant about it especially if you have kind of your hair back,
some nice gold jewellery, chunky earrings.
My 15% code works for this cashmere knit as well as this turtleneck.
The next item in the roundup which I recommend for your winter capsule wardrobe checklist
and it is a knit dress.
Focusing on the knits in the beginning here because at this time of the year
it is the only way to stay warm and to look chic.
And again when you focus on your good quality pieces
you're going to get that bit more warmth and comfort.
I have two knit dresses that I'm going to show you by LilySilk
just to give you two different options.
So you can choose a variation of these that works the best
but this one is the slightly more dressy one.
So this is called the VV knit dress by LilySilk
and I have seen this worn by so many people.
It really seems to be one of their best sellers
and it's crafted from a silk fabric.
So again you're getting that super high quality.
It's going to sit really nicely on the body.
The fabric feels gorgeous.
It comes into this almost plissé style midi skirt.
It's so elegant.
And what I also love about this is the shoulders.
It scoops really beautifully along the neckline and the décolletage
and I think this is such a gorgeous like chic area to have on show
especially in winter time.
But you can also wear the sleeves lower down on the shoulders
and just show off a full shoulder moment.
It also comes in a black but I feel like the cream is just so so chic.
I think the thing with knit dresses
is that they just look so effortlessly elegant
especially in the winter time
because when the weather is cold
sometimes it is so nice to still be wrapped up
even when you're indoors
and this is where pieces like these come in
because they look so chic
but they're so comfortable as well.
Now the next knit dress I wanted to show you
is a little bit more casual
and I would say a bit more versatile in terms of styling.
This is the grey merino wool dress.
It's again by LilySilk
so it's a super gorgeous wool composition.
So the fact that this is crafted from merino wool
we know merino for being really warm
really really comfortable
it's going to have a nice bit of heat to it
and you can see the fabric is so slim and light
it's going to skim across the body really really nicely.
What I really like about this grey knit dress
is that you could dress this up or down a little bit more.
The VV knit dress I showed you is a little bit dressier
which I adore especially with the neckline
whereas this one is a little bit more versatile.
I think that you could easily pair this with ballet flats
even with a pair of like nice chic trainers
and dress it down for the daytime.
You can pop a belt over it
but it easily can be dressed up for the evening
with a pair of heels
a nice clutch
some nice gold jewellery
you know it really is one of those pieces
that you can wear from day to night
and I love having those pieces in my wardrobe
especially in winter that are that versatile
and I just know I'm going to be comfortable
and I know they're going to look good.
So those are the four pieces
that I wanted to show you from LilySilk
and as I said
when it comes to our capsule winter wardrobe
knitwear is such a big part of it
and that's why I think it really pays
to have the best fabric composition that you can
it's just going to make everything feel and look better
and that's why I'm so delighted
that I have an exclusive discount code for you
so be sure and use it
it's going to give you a nice chunk off
I'll be using it myself to pick up
either a second black turtleneck
or to get it in the cream colour as well.
So the next item in my capsule winter wardrobe checklist
is a long sleeved tee
a long sleeve tee that I highly recommend
and you'll have seen me talk about this
in my shapewear video recently
because I talked about thermals
it is the cashmere long sleeve
from Swedish Stockings
they're predominantly a tights brand
but they do really good base layers
and it's basically your long sleeve tee
it's kind of like a t-shirt type fabric
even though it is a cashmere material
so I guess you could call it a knit
but it is such good quality
it keeps you so so warm
and it's great if you want something really really fine
to wear underneath something
I think it's such a good base layer
next item I'm going to recommend
for your capsule winter wardrobe
is a pair of leather or coated trousers
I did mention different types of trousers
in my previous video for autumn
and of course you can wear lots of those into winter
but as I said
these 10 items are very much geared
towards the cold weather
and there is nothing that beats the cold
like a pair of coated or leather trousers
they just give every outfit
that kind of cool girl energy
they're very easy to style
and they just make everything look really smart
and gives kind of an edge to an outfit
but again they're not too edgy
you can make them look so chic and polished as well
I style them just like I would
a pair of black tailored trousers
top recommendations for these
would probably be River Island
I feel like they just do really great ones
for the price point
I have a pair that I absolutely love
which I bought this season
that I'm going to link below
the price was fantastic
and then I also have a slightly wider leg version
from them as well
which I'll also link below
they look great with a black turtleneck
tucked into a cashmere knit
you can wear them with a gorgeous blazer or a coat
and again they can easily be dressed up
for the evening as well
whether you're pairing them with a simple tank top
or t-shirt in the evening
or you want to do a dressier top
the leather trousers are great for the party season
so moving on from the leather trousers
the next item I recommend is a leather midi or maxi skirt
now this is something I only started wearing recently this season
and I adore it
so I do still love my like minier leather skirts
they're super super fun
but I do find that the midi or maxi lengths
look so chic and so elegant
and they're actually very easy to style
this season I've been wearing them with simple t-shirts tucked into them
which I think is a really cool alternative to leather trousers
it's kind of a nice like dressy casual vibe
but then also you can easily dress them up for the evening
if you pair them with a beautiful satin blouse
you can throw them on with blazers
they really are a piece that I feel like works for daytime
and for nighttime as well
and again my top recommendation for this is River Island
they have a few different styles that I really like
I will show the one that I have here
it's linked below
they also do a full leather version
it's a little bit more expensive
but if you really liked this style
and you wanted the real leather material
they have a version that's really really nice
so the next piece I'm going to recommend is also leather
and I just I love this material in winter
I feel like it's the perfect time to wear it
it looks so cool
and it's just such a great basic
so the last item I'm going to recommend is a leather jacket
now I'm not necessarily saying a biker jacket
I actually prefer like a leather blazer
or even a leather over shirt
so I have two that I'm going to show you
the first one is one that I've had for years
it is so so nice
it is from ASOS
and it is sold out
but I will link some similar ones below
again if you want to spend a little bit more
you could go for real leather
it's going to be heavier and warmer
but some of the faux leather versions that I found are really good
I think it's key to just find one that's kind of matte
that's not too shiny
and then the other item is a leather over shirt
now again my one is from Topshop on ASOS
and it is older
but I will link some similar ones
I particularly love this belted over shirt
I think it looks great paired with leather trousers
for like a double leather look
it's actually not as scary as it seems
especially if you dress it down with like a cool pair of trainers
I think it works super super well
but I think a leather over shirt paired with a skirt
or you know even with a satin maxi or midi
I think is really really gorgeous
so now we're going to move on to outerwear
and my number one recommendation for outerwear
for your capsule winter wardrobe
is the long black coat
it's so popular this season
that it's been abbreviated to the LBC
as opposed to the LBD
the little black dress
but really it is such a good staple
my one that I have is from ASOS
I got it last year
but this season
there are so many great black coats on the high street
my particular recommendation
is to get something really long
like I love a maxi length
I think they're so dramatic
and so chic
but obviously it depends on what you're looking for
and your height
go for the longest one that you're comfortable with
and also go for a little bit of structure on the shoulders
it gives it that beautiful like fitted tailored
almost masculine fit
but it looks really elegant
there's something really powerful
about the silhouette of like a good fitted power shoulder coat
I just adore it
and also I feel like this is the dressier coat
that you're going to have in your wardrobe
so if you're going out for drinks or dinner
or the party season
this is the coat you're going to have draped over your shoulders
when you have your beautiful outfit on
it's really elegant
so again I will link some of my favorite black coats
in the description below
and you may have seen on my channel
I have a video dedicated to the best high street coats at the moment
it really is full of so many recommendations
so if you're looking for something go and check that out
that leads me nicely on to the next recommendation
in my winter wardrobe checklist
and it is the tan or neutral coat
so I don't recommend that you need a bunch of coats
but I would say go for a dark and go for a neutral
like a lighter color
and this is going to stand you in good stead
so when it comes to the tan or neutral coat
again I do think that it's something that you absolutely can dress up for the evening
but it's great for day wear as well
it's great for your work wear wardrobe
so if you're going for the classic tan
which I think is a no-brainer
it's a shade that really works for everybody
or you go for a lighter color
I think the cream off-white coats are so chic
it is a little bit harder to keep clean
but it is so beautiful
and definitely a dressier more kind of occasion wear coat
but I feel like tan, oat, lighter brown colors work just as well
so again I will link some in the description below
the one that I have here is by Naked Fashion
it is a few years old
there's something very similar on the high street by Weekday
which I will link in the description below
now the very last piece in my 10-piece winter capsule wardrobe checklist
it's quite a mouthful
is the bomber jacket
and again this is like a midway point between your bigger coats and your blazers
the bomber jacket is going to give you a nice bit of warmth
it's going to look nice and cool
it's not quite as dressy as your longer coats
but it still works for daytime into the evening as well
so the one that I am wearing here is by River Island
they do some great bombers
this one in particular I love because it's kind of a wool material
again the price is really really good
and I would go for this in a slightly larger size
I would size up one size
and I do think with the bombers they're so easy to style
they look so cool
they definitely are a trend that's been sticking around for the past few years
I do think that they're a little bit more geared towards the daytime
and casual wear than the evening
but they still look really really good in the evening time
like you can definitely dress them up
I love the grey bombers
are just really cool
and again if you have your tan coat and your black color
a grey is a really nice color to mix it up
but also they do a gorgeous cream color in this version as well
and it is so so nice
so there you have it guys
that is my 10 piece winter capsule wardrobe checklist
these are my ride or die staples
they are the things you are going to be seeing me the most in
if you've not seen me in them already
if you follow me over on my Instagram
you'll have seen all these pieces a lot
and they're just the items that I think I get the most value out of for my wardrobe
they're the best cost per wear
and that's why I'm so delighted to be able to bring you a discount
like the one that I have for LilySilk
it is 15% off with the code KIRAYT15
and of course if you spend over 500
you will be able to use the code KIRAYT20 for 20% off
and you know what?
it actually makes such a difference
when you are picking up these staples to get a chunk like that off
everything will be linked in the description below as I mentioned
if you liked this video you can give me a thumbs up to let me know
I will be following up this video with my 10 piece accessory capsule wardrobe checklist
