5 BEAUTY PRODUCTS WOMEN OVER 50 SWEAR BY | Risa Does Makeup

Hello, everyone. Welcome back. In today's video, I will be sharing with you five beauty products that women over 50 swear by. For the past several weeks, I have been scouring social media and reading tons of online articles in order to come up with this list. Not only did I take note of what influencers over 50 were using on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, I also noted what products makeup artists were loving for their clients over 50. And I also took into account products that you, my viewers, have recommended to me. So once I gathered all that data and I had the top five, I must admit I was a little surprised by a couple of them. And not because I don't think they're good products, I just was a little surprised that there was a consensus, an overwhelming consensus, that these are amazing products for those with mature skin. And by the way, if you are new to my channel, maybe this is the first video of mine you're seeing. My name is Risa and I recently turned 50, well, it's been about six months now. I turned 50 back in May. I was a freelance makeup artist for more than 20 years before becoming a full-time content creator here on YouTube to share all the tips and tricks I have learned over the years with you. All right, let's get into the first product. I think pretty much every woman over 50, heck, even most women over 40, they struggle with their lips thinning out, becoming less full. Some of you might be noticing some fine lines around the mouth. I think 98% of us also feel that our lips are extremely dry. Let's face it, a lot of people are going and getting lip filler injections, which is actually something I did back in, I think it was 2016 or 2017. I really didn't end up liking the way it looked. I already had sort of full lips to begin with, and long story short, I had the filler dissolved. But what I didn't know at the time is that filler doesn't always go away. It doesn't always fully dissolve. So my lips have never gone back to the way they were before I ever got any filler. Now I'm not particularly mad about that. I happen to like the way my lips look. But even if they hadn't remained fuller, I would never get lip filler again, especially when there are products like City Lips available. To be clear, this product will not give you the same results as lip filler. But what it is going to do is visibly plump any fine lines and wrinkles on the lips or around the mouth. It contains oligopeptides, which are a string of amino acids that help enhance lip volume by supporting your natural collagen production, therefore creating a fuller, healthier, younger look. It also contains hyaluronic acid spheres. So after application, those spheres expand to deliver deep hydration and a visibly plumped up effect. The next product is one of those that surprised me because, to be honest with you, I had not even heard about it. This is the Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Glow Serum Priming Face Serum. Now don't get me wrong. I have heard of Danessa Myricks and I have heard of the Yummy Skin Blush. I rave about that all the time in my videos. I have also heard of the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm. But I had not heard about this Yummy Skin Glow Serum and I really didn't know how many people love it. I'm putting my glasses on so I can read you a little bit about what this primer is all about. On the Danessa Myricks website it says, this ultra-hydrating primer contains antioxidant rich fruit extracts such as kiwi, dragon fruit, fig, and pomegranate to protect skin from environmental stressors. It's formulated with turmeric and olive derived swalene oil. This serum oil hybrid provides long lasting hydration for plump, dewy skin. Now I have oily skin. So that may be one of the reasons why I never looked into this product, why I haven't looked into this product before doing this research. Because when you have oily skin you tend to feel like you've got enough of a natural glow. You really don't need any more. So I was hesitant to purchase this product and try it out but I am so glad I did. On the website it does say that it is good for all skin types, dry, oily combination, normal, acne prone, sensitive, and mature. Then when I went on to do more research and I read that over 96% of subjects experienced a reduction in the appearance of pores. Over 96% of subjects had an overall boost of radiance and luminosity. Overall subjects showed 108.89% immediate improvement in skin's hydration. And over 89% of subjects showed a significant improvement of skin's barrier function. Sold. Now obviously we don't always believe or we shouldn't always believe everything we read. But after using this now for about a week I am super impressed. This is so lightweight. It feels so good going on the skin. It gives an immediate luminosity but it didn't make me excessively oily. I know some of you are probably out there thinking no Risa for a primer I need something that's heavier, richer, creamier, more like a moisturizer texture. I encourage you to try this product. You can still apply your sunscreen and your regular moisturizer. Then you want to squeeze one or two dime sized drops onto your fingers and then apply it to your face for a glowing base before foundation or simply wear it alone for a luminous natural finish. Next up is the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40. This contains niacinamide, squalane, and hyaluronic acid. Makeup artists, influencers, and consumers love this foundation because it's super lightweight. This is an award winning clean skin tint that delivers light coverage along with potent skin care. It contains a mineral SPF and it's clinically proven to improve the look of dryness, redness, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone over time. It's also vegan, non comedogenic, and perfect for sensitive skin. Now all of that said I will offer this warning to my fellow oily skinned people. This is probably not the most ideal product for us. I do like it for my everyday no makeup makeup days if I'm just running errands. I think as you saw in that demo and here my skin looks pretty darn good. However this foundation is not extremely long wearing for those of us with oily skin. I know from my research that this is a beloved product by mostly mature women with combination to dry or very dry skin. However I am including it in this video because it was by far the most talked about foundation and raved about foundation for women over 50 and it truly can be worn by all skin types. I'm just giving that warning to those of you that are oily that I wouldn't put this on if you need your makeup to last 8, 10, 12 hours. Product number 4 is a concealer that everyone has heard of. This one did not surprise me at all. It has won numerous Allure Magazine Reader's Choice Awards. I believe back when InStyle Magazine was doing their Best of Beauty issue. Is InStyle Magazine even still around? Regardless I remember back in the day when I read magazines I would see the Maybelline Eraser Multi-Use Concealer as a winner or a Reader's Choice winner over and over again. Funny story. Or maybe not so funny. But a story about this concealer. Quick one. About 4 or 6 weeks ago I uploaded a video on products that are so good they should be viral and I included this concealer, specifically the brightening pink shade in that video. And so many of you told me in the comments, Risa, this product did go viral. And I don't mean just this product because I know, as I just mentioned, that it's been popular for quite a while. But I guess I didn't realize that they made it in this pink brightener shade and I didn't know just how good of a job this product does at brightening the under eyes and other areas of the face. So in that video I was speaking of this brightener specifically. However in this video I'm talking about the entire range. All shades. I did not know this until I started researching that this is actually the number one concealer in America. Let's look at this review from October 22nd of this year. It says, Best Concealer for Aging Skin. My favorite concealer. Not too heavy or cakey. Blends easily. Covers what needs covering. I have very fair skin and it's always a challenge to find a concealer light enough. This is it. Oh the review underneath it is kind of funny. It says, Just take the sponge out. Formula? Great. Packaging? I take the full sponge tip off. I give it a few clicks. Put the product on my finger and dab it under my eyes. Great formula. Best concealer I've ever used. Doesn't make wrinkles more prominent. Former makeup snob. First cheap product I've tried. Love it. I would probably switch out the word cheap for affordable. But anyway I think you get the point. This concealer has become iconic. And the final product is another one that was sort of a surprise to me. Again, not because it's not a good product. I think it's a great product. But with all of the blushes and specifically cream blushes out there on the market right now, I was very, I guess I shouldn't say surprised, but maybe just intrigued to find out that the Fenty Beauty Freestyle Cream Blushes were so unanimously praised. One of the things I read is that a lot of makeup artists like to use this as a lip product as well. Lip and cheek product. I happen to do that with a lot of my cream blushes as well, and you probably do too. Even liquid blushes. I like to put the same color on my lips and my cheeks. Who doesn't love a multi-purpose product? The other thing that's great about this product specifically, and one of the reasons why I've always really liked it, is because it stays. Even if you don't set it with a powder blush or use a setting spray, this blush will remain where you put it and just as vibrant as when it was first applied all day long. It now comes in 15 beautiful shades. It doesn't require a lot of blending. It just instantly melts into the skin. One of the things I really like about this particular formula is that it doesn't disturb or disrupt your makeup underneath. You can go and pat this on top of your already completed makeup and it won't pick up the foundation or concealer. It's going to give you an instantly radiant and youthful flush. There they are.
