It's a pleasure to meet you again on the show Dieng Den Thanh Cong, broadcasted every Saturday on VTC10.
And it's even more pleasant to bring you a story about a woman,
that if asked, what does she love the most?
It's pictures.
Before coming to this woman, let's come to the following images.
In the memory of her mother, Nguyen Thi Lan,
perhaps she will never forget the image of a 3-year-old girl,
standing still to cling to a frame,
staring at each needle and thread from her mother's hands.
At the age of going to school, after each day of school,
that girl whined to her mother,
asking her mother to teach her flower and leaf embroidery.
When I was very young,
my mother still embroidered like this,
but I couldn't stand up and look at her embroidering.
I liked to hold a needle and thread.
Since I was a child, my mother taught me how to embroider.
As I grew up, my love for embroidery grew bigger and bigger every day.
At that time, I had some products that I made together with my mother.
After that, when I grew up, I had a bigger love for embroidery.
I wanted to record flowers and natural scenes
by using needle and thread to draw them into pictures.
As society develops,
more and more industrial products appear at competitive prices.
Handmade crafts, as well as many other traditional crafts of Vietnam,
stand in front of endless challenges.
Growing up with each needle and thread,
but with the responsibility of a big sister in a large family,
a girl under the age of 20, Nguyễn Thị Hằng,
had to decide to switch to sewing,
hoping that the economy could improve.
And then, the single-coloured sewing lines
were not enough to embroider a girl,
but from the moment she was born, she was familiar with colored threads.
Only a few months later,
she realized that only sewing could bring her happiness.
She decided to go all over the country to study.
At the age of 22, she came back
to do what was considered a hobby at that time,
which was sewing.
When I got home, Hằng said,
Mom, I'm sewing.
At that time, my parents were very surprised
because she had just come home,
she was still too young,
and there was no economy in the family at that time.
So she said, Mom, I'm sewing.
The owners were also very scared.
If I opened it,
could I find a market to sell it or not?
At first, Hằng's sewing line was extremely difficult to operate
because there was little investment.
In the early days of sewing,
sewing was mostly based on basic sewing techniques,
and especially the fierce competition of the market.
The first customers
had to sit next to each sewing machine
to make and guide.
In order to deliver the goods in time,
Hằng had to stay up all night.
Then to improve her sewing skills,
she went to the South to learn to make art embroidery,
which was very different from the embroidery products
commonly seen at that time.
The result was only for those who worked hard.
Gradually, more and more people ordered her embroidery.
Her products were very satisfied
by her partners and customers.
Personally, I like this embroidery line
because the embroidery is very lively.
In addition to the soft lines,
the color combination of the artist
is very bright and new.
There is something very warm,
friendly and emotional
in the picture of the artist.
So I really like it.
Normally, we will see embroidery on products
such as handkerchiefs,
handkerchiefs,
but they have changed the embroidery lines
into artistic products
with the image of a traditional craft village
with artistic products
of the ethnic soul.
So our customers,
who have love for their country,
they really like the pictures of embroidery.
At many times,
nearly 100 embroiderers work continuously.
Not only craftsmen are hired,
those who have never held a needle and thread
are also employed by Ms. Hang.
Then she said,
to help them have more income,
to help them have a job to earn a living
when they are anywhere.
I have been a needle and thread embroiderer
for more than 20 years.
I see Ms. Hang as a teacher,
a person who always inspires
all generations of students here
and embroiderers.
From the first needle and thread,
she has always been a very meticulous person.
She is a very patient person,
and when she teaches,
she inspires everyone to work.
I am a patient person.
I have severe gastrointestinal disease.
So I can't do a lot of work
or spend a lot of time on it.
So I came back to work
because of Ms. Hang.
She encourages everyone to work
to have time to take care of their children.
So I came back to work.
More than 20 years of needle and thread embroidery,
I don't know how many times
she has faced many difficulties.
But love for traditional embroidery
is like an invisible force
that gives her more energy to continue on her path.
Her needle and thread is not only
a product of the Ministry of Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
but has also started to be exported abroad.
Those results are more and more valuable
as a source of motivation for Ms. Hang
not to stop her passion for embroidery
and to continue on her path
so that more and more people
will pay attention to delicate handicrafts
connected to the soul of the country.
This is the main character of this episode.
She is the needle and thread embroiderer, Nguyen Thi Hang.
Hello, Ms. Hang.
Ms. Hang, you are wearing a beautiful shirt
with roses on your chest.
Do you feel familiar with the shirt you are wearing?
Yes, I do.
What do you recognize?
I used to embroider this shirt before.
To be honest, this is one of the shirts
that I really like
because not only is it white,
but I also love the shape of it.
Today, when I talked to you,
I decided to wear this shirt
to once again show you and the audience
what a beautiful shirt I have.
I have been an embroiderer for many years.
Once again, you can tell us more
about your passion for embroidery.
We all know that there are times
when you decide to take a different path.
That's right.
There was a time when I wanted to
switch to another profession
but it was only for a short period of time.
I did not find it suitable for the job I was going to choose
so I decided to go back to the profession
that I love the most.
Many people think that
embroidery is a light job
because the embroiderer only has to sit in one place
and even the tools used to embroider
are very simple, such as a small needle
and a few threads.
Do you think this is a light job?
Yes, it is a light job
but it is not easy to make beautiful paintings
or beautiful works.
I have to put my feelings and thoughts
into the space of the painting
and the soul of the painting
and the theme of the painting.
I have to spend a lot of time researching.
When a painting is drawn
or printed,
it is very difficult
but to draw a painting with a needle and thread
is a whole process.
This process takes a long time
to create a painting
so I have to invest a lot in my feelings.
Embroidery requires a lot of sitting
so the back, the collarbone
and the neck have a lot of influence.
When I embroider,
there are times when my hands are bruised
and I bleed
or when I embroider thick patterns
I have to stretch
to pull the needle up and down easier.
How long did it take you to invest
the most time and effort into a painting?
It took me a few hundred paintings.
A few hundred paintings?
What kind of paintings are they?
Can you tell us more about a painting
that takes a whole year to finish?
I usually draw big paintings
and follow the natural scenery
such as the countryside of Vietnam
or the rainy season
or the nature around me.
Your age is about the same age as me, right?
Yes.
That means you have been through
a lot of paintings.
Can you tell us about a painting
that left you the most emotions
or memories?
The painting is about a mother.
The painting that left me the most memories
and emotions
is the painting of a mother
holding her mother.
When I was a child,
I had to breastfeed my mother
and breastfeed her.
When I was breastfeeding her,
there were drops of water
that felt like there was no more water.
It felt like there was a lot of mother's effort.
With that painting,
is it like a gift for your mother
or did you sell it?
I don't want to sell that painting.
I'm sure a lot of people have asked
about this painting.
What is the most difficult thing
about painting?
I want to keep it as real as possible
and bring the daily life
into the painting.
But it has to be changed
according to the artist's intention.
Do you have any special memories
related to your work?
My husband was my first partner.
So your work helped you
to have a husband, right?
Can you tell us more about this?
When I was about 20 years old,
I opened an art gallery.
At that time, I did fashion
and paintings.
But at that time,
I only used 3D techniques
to find beautiful paintings
to buy and sell.
At that time,
I only opened an art gallery.
My husband bought paintings
and became a painter.
What was your first impression
when you met for the first time?
When you are an artist,
you have to be very meticulous
in your work.
Or did you meet for the first time
after a while?
At that time,
the two fields were different.
It took me a while
to understand each other.
It was very difficult
because I was a painter.
I had to change my mind
since I got married.
So it was a little different
from the market.
I'm sure you and your husband
have a good relationship
and support each other a lot, right?
What values do you think
are important in love?
I think love is about persistence
and meticulousness.
I want to keep
my husband's traditional job.
I used to be a very hot-tempered person.
After the process,
I'm much more calm now.
I want to record the moments
and turn them into paintings.
In order to turn those moments
into paintings,
I have to spend a lot of effort
to turn love
into my work.
I think making paintings
is like drawing a picture.
But it's very different.
In your case,
you use a pen and a ruler.
What do you think
is the role of emotions
in your paintings?
In a short period of time,
I can put emotions into paintings.
But in painting,
I need to be stable
in order to express my feelings.
I need to be able to touch people.
It's not always possible
to make a painting with emotions.
When you prepare to make a painting,
what will you do
to get those emotions back?
In the autumn,
I want to record the lives
of farmers.
I raised them myself.
I sowed rice
and harvested it.
It took me more than 3 months
to make a painting.
I want to preserve that feeling.
Every few weeks,
I visit the rice field
to get those emotions back
and preserve them.
I'm afraid that
when I forget,
I can't express those feelings.
The painting was completed
at the same time as you grew up.
Yes, from the time you sowed rice seeds
to the time you harvested rice seeds
The market and the painting industry
are developing rapidly.
Especially,
the participation of artificial intelligence
and technology
has made a lot of paintings
easy to buy and popular.
Not only that,
technology has also helped
to make them more popular.
I think you are facing
a lot of challenges.
Are you worried about that?
It's just a game.
It's set by machines.
I believe that
everyone has emotions.
I want to put those emotions
in a unique painting.
I won't make a second painting.
The owner of that painting
has something special.
I hope that
customers will come back
to feel the art of handicraft
and preserve and develop
the traditional craft.
What are your future plans?
Do you have any plans
to preserve and develop
the traditional craft of your ancestors?
To preserve and develop the traditional craft,
I want to train
and teach my students
the art of handicraft
so that they can feel
their passion for handicraft.
My husband and I
want to create an exhibition
so that customers
and children
can experience
the process of handicraft
and experience
how it feels
when you put it on a frame.
It takes a long time.
The first step
is to have a land fund
so that we can prepare
and plan for the future.
The first step is to have an exhibition.
Then we will have an experience area
where we can experience
traditional handicraft
and high-end art.
Customers can buy a product,
a painting or a work of art.
They can see
and feel the process
of making a painting.
They can sit down
and experience
the process of making a painting.
I hope that one day
I will be able to come
to your workshop
and learn from you.
Today,
not only you
but also a very special guest.
This is also a surprise
that the show wants to give you.
Are you ready to receive this gift?
Of course.
Right now,
I would like to invite this special guest to our studio.
Right now,
I would like to invite this special guest to our studio.
He is the painter Le Van Khoa.
He is the husband of artist Nguyen Thi Hang.
Hello, MC Ve Chi.
Hello, everyone.
Hello, my friend sitting next to me.
I am very surprised
that the show invited me here.
How about you, Thi Hang?
Do you like your husband?
Of course, I do.
Of course, your smile is very happy.
You are a painter,
and Ms. Hang is an artist.
She is an artist,
so this is a great opportunity
for you to get to know each other.
Is there any other reason?
When I was young,
I started to learn about business.
At first,
I was an amateur painter.
Of course, I was not as good as my wife.
I started to learn about business
through the products of our village.
First, I learned about the characteristics of my hometown.
I learned about glass paintings,
but my wife asked me
if there were any paintings without flowers.
I said yes,
and then I started to look for them.
At first, I looked for them
to see if they were the same as my wife's.
I wanted to import some and sell them.
We got to know each other,
and we started to sell them.
Earlier, Ms. Hang told us
how she got to know you.
But I'm sure there are many more stories.
I believe that Mr. Khoa
played a very important role in your work.
In addition to the person who shared the sweetness with you,
he also supported you a lot in your work, right?
Ms. Hang, can you tell us more
about the support and changes
in your work since you have a friend to accompany you?
The biggest change
is my mind.
My techniques are beautiful,
but there is no space,
no generalization.
My painting only has a technique
of the pattern,
not the whole picture.
I'm very good at using techniques
to express patterns.
But in terms of art,
I'm still limited.
Mr. Khoa taught you that, right?
Yes.
Mr. Khoa, can you tell us a funny story
about your wife and student?
How was the story?
Was she a good student?
Actually, I have a memory like this.
One day, I went to Haiphong for a business trip.
A customer was very familiar with my oil painting.
But the oil painting
had a small mistake.
It lost a little paint.
I couldn't leave Haiphong
for a while.
So I called my wife
to see if she could fix the mistake.
My wife didn't have enough paint,
but she instructed me
to mix the colors
and paint them hard.
Actually, I wasn't 100% confident
that my wife could do it.
After a while,
the customer called me
and told me that my wife had to learn painting.
I found out that my wife was very good at painting.
That's great.
You realized that your wife was an excellent student
who only had instructions on the phone.
In the end, you were able to fix the mistake
and make the customer very satisfied.
When I was invited by both of you
to this studio,
I think that there are things
that we usually don't talk about.
But in this studio,
I want to express my feelings
that I usually don't talk about.
I want to take the time
to talk to you both
and express my gratitude to you.
Hang, would you like to say something first?
Thank you for being with me
and supporting me in my work.
I know that it's hard
for both of us
to move forward,
but I will try my best
to make my dream come true.
To be honest,
I haven't given my wife flowers for a long time.
It's my fault.
On this occasion,
I would like to give my wife a bouquet of flowers.
I wish you all the best
in your career.
Thank you.
It's a bit of a lie.
It's a bit of a lie from Khoa.
I'm so happy to see you
being so happy and loving each other.
I wish you all the best
and hope that your dreams
will come true.
Once again, thank you Hang and Khoa
for spending your time with us
and making our show a success.
Thank you.
Thank you, everyone.
With the story that Huey Chi just told us,
Huey Chi would like to bring to you
some very meaningful messages
about love for your country
and especially love for Vietnamese traditional crafts.
No matter what you do,
as long as you love your country,
you will be successful.
Thank you for listening to Huey Chi's story.
See you again.
When I'm free,
I often go for a walk
to relax my mind
and record the scenery around me.
Walking every day gives me new energy
as well as new ideas.
The most important thing is that
when the time comes,
we can combine both to improve our health.
