Chinese Traditional Story: God's Gift to a Kind Hearted People

This story took place during the Song Dynasty. A family of three lived in a small village in Chang Zhou City; an old blind woman, her son and her daughter-in-law. The old woman’s son and daughter-in-law showed their filial piety by taking good care of her. Even though she was old and blind, she felt happy and safe. One day, while the daughter-in-law was preparing lunch, her husband urgently called her from the fields where he was working. She had just put the rice in the pot to cook, so she asked her mother-in-law to finish cooking the rice and she hurriedly left. After her daughter-in-law left, the old woman slowly added wood to the fire under the pot until she smelled the aroma of cooking rice.
