Oh my god, can't believe it, we set off three and a half hours ago to drive from, where were we last
time? Sleogh last night. Yeah my god, what day is it? Three and a half hours ago, the last ferry
to the top of the mountain, when I say ferry I mean gondola, is four o'clock. We arrived here at
ten to four after a three and a half hour drive and oh my god, so we're planning to camp up there
somewhere tonight. I've been up here twice before but we don't know whether it's pitchable because
it was winter time when I was up. Yeah so it might be very rocky but we'll just have to deal with it
and sort something out. But it's a summit camp, I think we're pretty high up expecting, well hoping
for an inversion in the morning as well. Perhaps, we might be in the clouds. Yeah so you know it is
what it is. Anyway, see you in a bit. Look at the waterfalls there and it's 23 degrees at the minute.
That was so inviting and beautiful. Yeah we're stuck on a seat.
And that's looking back to Rannock moor back there, King's house somewhere back there.
Yeah.
So we just got off the cable car which is there, heading, starting the ascent now across, there's
no path on this bit. But I would have been quite happy to camp just there but Evgeniy has spun me
this tale about there being an inversion tomorrow morning and if we camp there we'll probably be in
cloud. But if we head up that, up that, we might be above the inversion. My god. So we're heading up that
and we could have been just there. Nice easy one. This is my fifth consecutive wild camp in a row
since last Friday and I was supposed to be, no sorry, scrub that. I'm heading home tomorrow.
I was going to head home today but with the weather being so nice, so I'm staying up another day
heading home tomorrow and then I'm back at work on Thursday. I just didn't want to miss the
opportunity to stay out in weather like this. Yeah so it's my fifth camp in as many days,
second summit camp on a row, Slioch last night. I'm not sure how high this is, I'll put it on the screen.
I don't even know what it's called, you know me. I'll put that on the screen as well.
Look at these views now. Views across to the Buckle and Ben Nevis is it? I'm learning, I'm learning.
Look at that. I think that's Ben Nevis there. I don't like keep asking
every year because she already thinks I don't know anything about Scotland.
So I don't want to keep reinforcing those views. Anyway up there, views across there to the Buckle
probably the most iconic mountain in Scotland and I still haven't done it. I'll get there.
I've got to get up here first. So I'm just heading up now. I think
maybe that's the summit as you know. I don't know what I'm doing but let's see what we've got.
Look at that. Wowza. Wowza. Bloody hell. That's amazing.
I haven't felt them yet. Heavy News just mentioned midges, I haven't felt them.
Yeah this is the easy bit getting up here. Now we've got to find the pitch.
Right I'll get back to you in a bit. Wow and from here you can see the little
tarn as we say. Those northerners. I don't know if it's a lochen or what it is, a puddle.
Fantastic. Now I have seen the pitch. I just don't know if I'll be allowed to pitch there.
Down there. I mean we're gonna have to make the most of this because it's
it's not ideal but at least we're up here and we just do what we can.
Whoa. Right let's keep looking.
So I think this is it. Not great but the location's great. I think we're just gonna
have to make the best of a bad job. Heavy News up there at the summit. So I've just dropped down
here and I'm just going to see what I can do with this and I'm just going to say the reason
I've got this beach mat hanging out my rucksack is I thought I might have to pitch on rock.
It just offers a bit of protection for the bottom of the tent because I don't have a footprint.
The reason I don't have a footprint I'm a big fan of footprints but the tent's already 3.3 kilos and
I didn't want to add any more that weight to that so I decided to not get the footprint and just be
really careful about what I'm doing with it. But we're gonna go there. Oh it's good to have a sit
down I'm absolutely starving but I've just realized that I brought some sandwiches up
those and I've just realized I've forgotten my dehydrated food so I've got no meal for tonight
and I've got no breakfast for tomorrow morning so I'll just have to make do. No big deal I'll
just have to I've got some what else have I got
and whatever they are pork sausage rolls
two bounties indoor all the emergency stuff let's have to make do with that
no big deal. Evin here says there's midges up there so he's just put trousers on now
I haven't brought trousers. It's everywhere guys I'm not joking
I'm gonna have to move around while doing that. Jesus guys what did I ever do to you I get you've
blood to eat off tonight but why me why
and it appears to be okay here which is good that's why I've got this on it's like 20 odd degrees
sweating but just trying to keep my skin covered
Wow if it stays like this up here we're probably gonna stay up here out the way of those midges
My face stings. My ears are stinging and I look like a clown but that's nothing new there
just looking down there at a tent from up on the summit Evin here's there doing some filming
and it's time is it 20 past eight sunset's at ten to ten
now we're going to hopefully have a really nice sunset over there yeah what a night though
so we're going to head summits just there I'm going to head along the ridge and just have a
see what views we get from there
oh so we got up at 25 past 4 a.m I think for this
ah again it's amazing just got lucky again I can't believe it look at that
keep saying that but wow I just can't believe it the weather we've had on this trip
it's nuts so I brought all the brewing stuff up and we're gonna have a brew up here
I haven't yeah
she's quite grumpy in the mornings and afternoons and at night
so
right it's half past seven now we're all packed up leave no trace I tell you what it worked out
a lot better than I expected that found this bit of grass easily pitched on there I didn't
know if we're gonna have to pitch on rock or not that's why I brought this but yeah
and look at that so we're just off the summit now heading back up to the summit and then back down
to the uh gondola first one's at nine o'clock so it's half past seven now so we should easily be
back for that let's go just spotted a ptarmigan there I'll be able to see it but uh that cloud
looks like it's rising and pretty soon I reckon we might not be able to see that top station for the
gondola
