in tonight's wild florida monster catch. It took five men to wrangle a
supersize snake. These python hunters nearly set a florida record. Local

17 ft long and nearly £200. It took five men to take out this Burmese
python and it's a feat so many hope to accomplish. But these guys say they
were just at the right place at the right time. A catch of a lifetime. One
of the biggest snakes ever caught in florida captured friday night by five
python hunters. I grabbed her by the head, which is was the equivalent of
the size of a football and stretched her in one direction. My son stretched
her in the other and the other three guys jumped on top of her. She's a
Burmese python straight out of Big Cypress National Preserve, measuring in
at nearly £200 and more than 17 ft long. Longtime florida sportsman and
conservationist Mike Elfenbein said he, his son and three other experienced
hunters were blown away when they took a closer look at her. If the five of us
weren't there, we wouldn't have caught her. Um, she was crossing the road. We
were just lucky to be in the right place at the right time. It's the
second heaviest snake ever officially caught in florida. Back in june of last
year, £215 python was caught in southwest florida. These swamp monsters
aren't native to our ecosystem and present a threat to our wildlife. A
python, this big 17 ft, almost £200 likely consumed a lot of our deer and
rabbit and all the other little furry critters that we love to see here in
florida. The python was observed and recorded by the F. W. C. One of the men
will be keeping the skull for display and the rest of the python will be
preserved. And the hunters say they have been receiving messages of
congratulations and support from fellow hunters since that big catch in
the newsroom. Andrea Martinez, local 10 news.
