They Thought It Was Just a Honeymoon! The Case Of George Smith IV. True Crime Documentary.
On July 5, 2005, a 16-year-old girl aboard the Brilliance of the Seas found herself in a peculiar situation. The cruise ship, carrying an impressive 28,000 passengers across the Mediterranean, had docked in Kusadasi, Turkey, where the girl woke up early to capture the beauty of the rising sun on her balcony. Little did she know that her camera lens would capture something far more unsettling.
As the teenager focused her camera, ready to snap a picture of the picturesque sunrise, her attention was drawn to a disturbing sight. To her surprise, a large blood stain marred the canopy of the lifeboats. Alarmed by the ominous discovery, the teenager wasted no time alerting the ship's officials. The officials, along with the captain, promptly responded to the teenager's report, recognizing the gravity of the situation. They knew all too well what this could potentially signify – the Brilliance of the Seas was faced with what Royal Caribbean referred to as an "overboard situation."
