Hi, I'm Monica and this is Lo Stile di Coquette, a channel where I talk to you in a good way about personal growth and in general about the development of soft skills.
You asked me for some reading advice for this summer, I can tell you about some books that I found pleasant to read and that I therefore recommend in the name of simplicity and carelessness,
which are two fundamental characteristics to have a good summer.
Before starting, I remind you, if you haven't already, to subscribe to the channel and leave me your like if you like this video.
The books I show you today all have in common the fact of having a very quiet, very fluid and smooth reading, therefore suitable for a period of relaxation and carelessness.
The first book I show you and therefore recommend is this by Alessia Gazzola.
Defined as the most British of Italian pens, I like this a lot because I love British settings.
The title of this book is Un tè a Chaverton House.
It is the story of an angelic girl who leaves for England and finds herself in an unexpected situation.
Obviously I won't tell you the story, I'll let you discover it on your own, I'll just tell you that there is a second character named Alessandro,
who from the protagonist of this novel is defined as a person who has an air of offended nobility,
just so as not to stray too far from our characteristic arguments.
It is set in an old dormitory in Dorset, just for this reason I really liked the book.
There is a library in the middle, but not only, also tea services, floral wallpapers and, how to say,
a situation in which you have to decide whether to take the direction dictated by the head or by the heart.
So a very light, romantic reading that will certainly give you moments of relaxation and carelessness.
The second book that I bring to your attention, I had already shown it to you, is called Quiet.
Here we go a little further towards what personal growth is, so to speak.
A book dedicated to the power of controversies, it refers to the ability to listen.
The controversies are those who prefer to listen instead of speaking,
who prefer to read instead of living a social life, those who create and invent but who do not express their opinion.
It has a lot to do with the aspect of good manners, it is very relevant with the topics we usually deal with on this channel.
Read it regardless of whether you are controversial or not, because it makes you understand many things,
it makes you reflect on many things and it can turn out to be an extra step for each of you.
The other book I'll show you now, the period is summer, you will see that this book talks about Christmas,
I didn't go crazy but I'll show it to you because the author is of a crazy irony,
in my opinion of a very refined emotional sensitivity, I'm talking about Sophie Kinsella,
let's say this is the name of the art, she is actually called Madeleine Wickham and this is I Love Shopping at Christmas.
Here, if you are looking for a carefree reading, this is for you.
I open a parenthesis and I do it because of this type of books there is a whole column dedicated to I Love Shopping.
They are books that apparently could seem very superficial, I take this opportunity to remind you that superficiality and lightness are two very different things
and in this case lightness is rewarded, which I really need in this period.
The protagonist of these books may seem slightly immature, slightly out of place,
but I told you that Sophie Kinsella's writing is in a way sophisticated because it makes you understand how each of us is beautiful for how it is done
and at the same time keeps you company, I repeat, with lightness, gives you many smiles
and that's why, despite being about Christmas and despite being a type of really little, little, little challenging book, I recommend it.
The protagonist is called Becky, in this case she is busy with the organization of the Christmas party at her house.
It is not an easy undertaking in itself, for her even more complicated because she is a bit of a perfectionist, she loves shopping tremendously,
even in this case I will not tell you the plot, I'll let you find out if you want to do it.
A really, really fun book that makes you forget if you have your little problems.
Let's move on to this other book, which is the book of tea, in which the author meticulously reconstructs the ritual of preparing tea.
It will seem stupid, but it is not at all, indeed you can find both philosophical and relatively good ideas in this writing.
In practice, the ritual of tea takes place on a spiritual path, it is very beautiful because it brings you closer to a culture that is not ours.
We from the West know perhaps little of the Oriental culture, it is a great starting point to make different reflections
and it is still a reading that flows very well and that can keep you company under the umbrella or during relaxed afternoons.
The last two books I'll show you are purely related to Galatea, you may have already seen them in another video.
This is Signore e Signori d'Italia by Gabriella Turnaturi.
It is a very precious book, very interesting, I don't know if you can see it, I loved all the pages practically, because each page has a tongue.
It is a book that practically talks about the history of the good manners, makes many understand why, makes the historical process of the formation, of the modification of the good manners of the Galatean understand.
So for a more specific overview of this topic, I recommend it.
The last book I'll show you is perhaps the one I recommend the most because it is really beautiful, it is very easy to read, it has many points related to Galatea,
among other things written by a person who knows a lot about Galatea, Tiziana Busato Soprana, it is called Fashion Fork and it is practically a book dedicated to the skeptics of Galatea and good manners.
It is very funny, I do not hide that I would love to be able to become good at hardware and material, so much so that I can write something like that.
It is really really beautiful, I recommend this to you with all my heart, among other things there is the continuation of this little book.
It is practically the story of a fork, so do not see it as a simple manual that can sometimes seem a bit boring, that's why I recommend it as a summer reading,
but there is the story of this Mrs. Fork that goes around the world and probably also finds love, so highly recommended.
With this video I hope I have been useful to you, I hope I have kept you company, thanks to you who have followed me to the end.
Since this channel also talks about style, I leave you with a thought of Nietzsche, written right behind this little book that says
improving style means improving thought. Just to reiterate that good manners in Galatea are not a matter of rules, but a matter of feeling and thought.
See you in the next video!
