Meet The Deadliest Marine Reptile In History || Mosasaurus
Mosasaurus, is one of the most aggressive and deadliest marine predators of all time. Mosasaurus, lived during the cretaceous period, about 145 million to 66 million years ago. During their time, they ate almost every type of creature in the ocean, fishes, ammonites, sea turtles and sharks, sometimes they even devoured other smaller and young mosasaurs. One of the most captivating aspects of Mosasaurus, lies in its formidable physique. With an elongated body reaching up to 50 feet in length, it was well-equipped to dominate the oceans. This is longer than sarcosuchus, the greatest and the largest crocodile subspecies to have ever lived. Its streamlined body, with powerful flippers, and a muscular tail made it an efficient swimmer, allowing it to chase down prey and maneuver with precision. Mosasaurs, were marine reptiles, whose distant relatives is believed to be snakes and monitor lizards. One of the most striking features of the Mosasaurus was its jaw, armed with rows of sharp, interlocking teeth that were perfectly adapted for grasping and consuming a diverse diet. Before the cretaceous period, another two close relatives of mosasaurus, lived during the Triassic period. Plesiosaurus and ichthyosaurs. Another marine reptiles that dominated the food chain in the oceans, each of them had a serpentine streamlined body like that of the mosasaurus. Plesiosaurus in Particular, also hard a formidable weapon, its jaws, a set of canine teeth, which is designed to rip apart flesh with ease. Despite its dominance, the reign of Mosasaurus came to an end around the same time as the end cretaceous mass extinction, event that wiped out the dinosaurs, approximately 66 million years ago. As ocean temperatures changed and ecosystems shifted, Mosasaurus, along with many other marine species, faced challenges that eventually led to their extinction. Since then, planet earth has never has never hosted any marine reptile, as large and powerful as the mosasaurus.
