Matthew Perry's former co-star, Ione Skye, pays tribute to the late actor by sharing their final text exchange, which happened a week before his unexpected death. The two starred alongside each other in the 1988 film 'A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon,' in which Matthew made his movie debut.

I still got 20 minutes, right? 15.
The two starred alongside each other in 1988's A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, Matthew's film debut.
They were just teens when they worked together, captured in this sweet throwback pic,
which Ione posted alongside their last messages, exchanged just a week before the actor's death.
Matthew starting the chat saying,
Matt, of course, referring to the song from Ione's 1989 classic Say Anything.
In your eyes, the light, the heat, I am complete.
Your eyes see the dawning of a thousand churches.
Ione replies,
Yes, I am both, I think, she writes back. Good to hear from you. I only have nice memories with you.
The conversation ends with Matt reminiscing,
Ione captioning her post,
Matthew died at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday. His cause of death is still unknown.
In the days since, many former colleagues have joined Ione in paying their respects,
including his on-screen mom from Friends, Morgan Fairchild.
Oh, look at you, so handsome.
You look beautiful, Mom.
You look beautiful too, Dad.
I felt like I knew him better than I actually did at the time.
But also, he was so interesting to work with,
because he would always come up with the weird, offbeat way of phrasing something
that made it even funnier than it was on the page.
The scripts were always really funny,
but then he would come up with ways to make it even funnier,
with his double takes and his little tweak of a word here and there.
And it was always fun watching him try to deal with Nora,
and just trying to work through everything, trying to deal with his mother.
Chandler!
Mom, thanks for wearing something.
I think he leaves a great legacy of joy and outreach and kindness, most of all.
With Matthew, I think his legacy will be joy.
Joy, and the joy he brought to other people through his work,
but also through his outreach, his willingness to be open about his problems,
the joy that he brought into people's lives that way.
And I would just say, Matthew, you know, a life well lived.
Well done. Well done, my son. Well done.
