Hello everyone, I am Lee Si-man. Today is October 24th, 2023.
I am sure many of you still remember the industrial accident that happened in the An Ta Shing Road last year.
I saw in the news today that the victim, Wei Shang, has recently passed away due to cancer.
His two daughters are being taken care of by their grandparents.
After hearing this news, my first reaction was,
is there anyone raising any high-paying funds?
Because in the US, this kind of money is very common.
Think about it, a family has already lost an economic resource.
Now, even the mother has passed away.
She will still be affected by this.
But, even if the victim does not have any financial pressure,
people around him will still think,
if you can help, then help.
Then, a reader left a comment to let me know,
before his wife passed away, she had already refused other people's donations.
She said, leave the money to those who need it.
At that moment, I just left a comment,
that is, I have a backbone.
I don't want to rely on others,
I don't want to owe others.
I think this is also a virtue.
Especially in this society,
there are indeed many people who are selling cheap sympathy.
Many times, we hear people say,
I am saying this for your own good,
it is worse than being rude.
The biggest problem is,
many times, when we think we are helping others,
or we have never thought about other people's feelings,
it is not easy to truly understand and feel other people's feelings.
And this ability is called sympathy.
Although sympathy is a human nature,
but in some cultures,
especially those cultures that claim to collect our personal feelings,
in general, most people lack the sympathy that I just mentioned.
Don't get me wrong.
What I just said is a sociological point of view,
I am not criticizing anything.
If you believe that having more sympathy is a virtue,
you can act on your own at any time.
If you think that other people don't have sympathy,
it has nothing to do with it.
In human relations,
the expression of sympathy is respect.
Many people know how to say respect,
but I find that many people don't know what real respect is.
Is respect just being respectful?
But you can't treat everyone like that.
Some people say,
it is not strange to have more sympathy.
At most, others will be offended, right?
Maybe when we see the word sympathy,
we think that sympathy is just being polite and respectful.
Sorry.
I think what I just said is called hypocrisy.
As I said,
in an emotionless society,
most people lack sympathy.
If you extend this situation in your life,
these people often use some etiquette and rules
to replace the relationship and communication between people.
In fact, real respect is very simple.
It is how others look at themselves,
and how you look at them.
This is why we say,
respect yourself.
Some people may think it is strange.
Is there anyone who doesn't respect themselves?
Of course, there are.
And there are many of them.
Who doesn't respect themselves?
It is those who can't face their true selves.
These people are either self-abased or arrogant.
Some people may say,
Yes, yes, yes.
I know some people are too self-abased to show their true selves.
Why are they like this?
Because those who are self-abased
always think that others look down on them.
And they think that
if you look down on others,
you are superior.
Right?
Remember one thing.
Self-esteem
is not to regard yourself as the most outstanding person in the world.
It is to learn how to accept yourself objectively and realistically.
It is not to be self-abased.
It is to not be self-abased.
It is not to be self-abased,
and not to be self-abased.
It is hard for others to not respect those who respect themselves.
I would like to tell myself that
Hui Tai and his family
should think the same way.
This is the end of my sharing today.
Thank you for your time.
Thank you for listening.
See you next time.
