The key to create a better world is correction.
We must be able to correct our mistakes.
And the only way to correct our mistakes is through learning.
And only a free mind of all judgment is able to learn continuously.
And once you open yourself to endless learning,
you will be able to correct your mistakes.
And once you will be able to correct your mistakes,
you will be able to make this world a better place to live.
In the book Les Frères Karamazov, Dostoevsky writes
Remember above all that you can not be the judge of anyone,
because there can be no judge of a criminal on earth
as long as the judge does not know that he too is a criminal,
exactly the same criminal as the one who stands before him,
and that he may even be the most guilty of all for the crime of a single.
For the crime of the one who is standing before him,
when he understands this, then he will be able to judge.
As crazy as it may seem, this is the reality.
Because if I were virtuous myself,
maybe there would be no more criminals in front of me today.
If you can take the crime of the criminal who stands before you,
and you judge yourself before him,
do it on the field, suffer in his place,
and let him go without any reproach.
Dostoevsky says something very powerful here.
What he says is that by freeing your mind of judgment,
you can create a better world.
But how does a free mind of judgment lead to a better world?
The key to creating a better world is correction.
We must be able to correct our mistakes.
And the only way to correct our mistakes is through learning.
And only a free mind of all judgment is able to learn continuously.
Learning is done in two steps.
Prediction, then correction.
First, you make a prediction on how you will achieve a certain goal in the world.
And then, if you make a mistake, you correct your prediction
until your goal is achieved.
So once again, learning is done in two steps.
Prediction, then correction.
And a free mind of all judgment is naturally predictive.
It makes and naturally corrects its predictions.
Or in other words, a free mind of all judgment learns naturally.
But now, how to free your mind of judgment?
Well, by letting go of your desire for certainty.
A mind that desires certainty is a mind that quickly falls into illusion.
Because certainty is only possible in illusion.
A mind that seeks certainty will very often say,
I know.
It considers itself perfect.
And believes it has grasped the truth.
Except that once a mind believes it has grasped the truth,
it stops making predictions and starts making judgments.
Because there is no value in making predictions
when you think your knowledge is perfect.
And because the mind that judges believes it is perfect,
it is not open to be corrected.
So naturally, it falls into illusion.
And illusion leads to suffering.
So how to give up this desire for certainty?
Well, it happens naturally
when you realize that certainty is impossible.
How do you know the sun will rise tomorrow?
You don't know.
Well, you can't be sure until it has risen.
We can only be certain about things that have happened in the past.
But the future is always uncertain.
There is no reason for tomorrow to be similar to today.
The idea that the future must look like the past is an act of fraud.
And once you have really internalized this,
you will probably lose this desire for certainty.
Because it's a useless chase.
And once you have given up this desire for certainty,
you will free your mind of judgment.
And you will open yourself to endless learning.
And once you open yourself to endless learning,
you will be able to correct your mistakes.
And once you will be able to correct your mistakes,
you will be able to make this world a better place to live.
Now let's examine the difference
between a mind trapped by judgment
and a mind freed from judgment.
The mind that is freed from all judgment
will doubt its own knowledge.
And these doubts lead it to make tests.
These tests lead it to errors.
These errors lead it to correction.
And correction leads it to greatness.
While the mind that judges
is certain of its own knowledge.
And its certainty leads it to illusion.
And this illusion leads it to suffering.
If you manage to perceive the lie behind certainty,
you will give up this desire.
You will agree to live in uncertainty.
And if you give up this desire for certainty,
you will free yourself from judgment.
And if you free yourself from judgment,
if you stop being influenced by the judgment of others,
if you stop judging yourself and judging others,
you enter directly into an endless learning dynamic.
And thanks to this endless learning,
you can correct your mistakes.
You can create a better world.
