This is a remarkable canon written by Mozart in 1782, at the height of his obsession with the counterpoint of J. S. Bach. Reminiscent of the incredibly complicated canons found in Bach's "The Musical Offering," this canon is realized with the entry of each successive voice one tone lower on the scale than the preceding entry (the first starts on G, the second on F, the third on E, and the fourth on D).
