Well, fall has arrived and that means it's time for some comfort food.
How about a one pan chicken and biscuits?
I've got the recipe.
Let's get cooking with style.
We're going to do this all in one pan and to get things rolling I'm going to put a little
bit of white olive oil in my preheated pan.
It's on a medium high heat and the ingredients are basically whatever you want.
These are the ones I'm going to be using.
I've got some potatoes, onions, brussels sprouts and carrots.
We're going to put those in with a little bit of fresh thyme and fresh sage and we're
going to sauté this lightly before we put our chicken in and don't forget to season
just a little bit.
We'll put about a teaspoon of salt in here and then three or four twists of the fresh
pepper.
We're going to sauté this for about four or five minutes.
Alright, remember to give these a little bit of a stir or toss and we're going to move
everything off to one side and to this now I'm going to add my chicken which I've floured
and I'm going to lightly season that.
We'll brown this up before we get the sauce all coming together.
So our chicken's been cooking for about seven or eight minutes, pretty much golden brown
on the outside a little bit.
Some of it still needs to be cooked a little bit more.
Now I'm going to add my garlic, coarse chopped.
I like those.
We're going to put in our cremini mushrooms.
We're going to bring everything together now.
So in goes the chicken stock.
To this we're going to add two shots of Worcestershire.
We're going to throw in a little bit of Dijon mustard, about a tablespoon and we're going
to bring this to a simmer and let it cook for about 15 minutes to let the sauce thicken
a little bit.
So this has been simmering for about 15 minutes and you can see the gravy has thickened up
nicely.
If you'd like it tighter than that, put a little flour and water and put that in there.
I'm going to taste it now.
That is spot on.
Okay, so now we're going to put the biscuits in and what we're going to do is we're just
going to take these biscuits and I've already got my oven preheated and we're just going
to lay these around inside our beautiful gravy and chicken and everything like that and we're
just going to bake this and if you've got more people, put another container full of
that in there.
Follow the directions on the packaging and bake it for about 16-17 minutes.
In you go, one pot, chicken and biscuits.
Alright, these look absolutely perfect, shut that up there.
How about that, huh?
Does that look good?
Like we would serve it.
Let's take ourselves a little biscuit here, put the biscuit on the side, get a little
bit of that.
Beautiful.
I mean, this is basically chicken and dumplings, but we're using the biscuits that you get
at the store to make everything a little bit quicker and easy.
Oh, that smells so good and I'm just going to finish this off with just a little bit
of parsley over the top for contrast and believe it or not, that parsley actually does add
a little bit of flavor.
You got your fresh Grangetto's thyme and sage in this recipe.
One pan, biscuits and chicken.
It's a great one for the winter and easy to make when you come home from work.
That's casual elegance here on Cooking with Styles.
