Rêverie is a piano piece written by Claude Debussy in 1890 and published in 1891. Rêverie means something like "daydream".

For a while, when I was a child, I could wish in the evening what I wanted to dream. I could fly in my dreams, visit foreign countries, and wish for the dream to continue the next evening, when the story in the dream was not yet over, because I had to get up early. My way to school was long. First by car down into the valley, then by train to Spiez and there to the old schoolhouse, so I had plenty of time to think and dream. Often my daydreams were also thoughts of what it would be like if and how it would be if it were different.

As I listened to this piece and watched the fog drifting in, I remembered those dreams, I liked to dream sometimes during the day too. Of course, not with the same colourfulness as in a dream at night, where I could experience everything as if it were real, but daydreaming was and sometimes still is very beautiful. It lets me experience things without having to do them, and I can decide whether it would be good or bad to do this or that.

This kind of daydreaming can be compared to reading a book and seeing the story unfold before your eyes like a film. Or listening to someone and sometimes feeling as if you were there.

這種白日夢可以與閱讀一本書並像看電影一樣看著故事展開相比擬。或者聽著某人講話，有時感覺自己就在那裡。
