Jim Jordan lost the third round of the House of Representatives speaker election with even fewer votes than in the first two.

The hardline Republican candidate received 194 votes to the Democrat nominee Hakeem Jeffries's 210.

The Republicans command a slim majority of the House though Jordan does not have the support of many of his colleagues.

A short time after the vote, Jordan was dropped as the Republican nominee for House speaker in a secret ballot of his GOP colleagues.
