Have you ever thought about how underwear can affect men's ability to have children?
Harvard researchers have found that the type of underwear men wear can affect their sperm
production.
The safest kind of underwear for men to wear are boxers.
The reason is simple, boxers are less tight than the other options.
Researchers observed that the participants that wore looser underwear, such as boxers,
produced up to 25% more sperm.
Furthermore, the analysis showed that their sperm were healthier and more able to navigate
the female reproductive system and fertilize the egg.
Blood samples were also taken from the participants, and the group of men wearing looser underwear
had 14% less follicle-stimulating hormone, FHS, a hormone that plays an important role
in masculine fertility.
The simultaneous presence of a low sperm count and a higher FHS in men who usually wear tighter
underwear suggest the presence of a compensation mechanism.
Researchers believe that the low sperm count signals the male brain in order to increase
FHS production.
These results prove that a relatively simple change, such as wearing the correct type of
underwear, can be a great help to men and their fertility.
