There was an empress who admired Bodhisattva Long Tho very much, who made a special golden bowl for him. When Bodhisattva Long Tho brought the bowl to the palace, the empress told him that she wanted him to do something for her. Bodhisattva Long Tho said, The empress said, He said, The empress said, He did not know at all that the empress had given him a precious golden bowl. On the way back, he stopped at a ruined temple. Before that, a thief had found the precious bowl in the hands of Bodhisattva Long Tho, and followed him into the temple. There were only four walls left in the temple, without a roof. Everything was in ruins. There was a window on the wall, and the thief was lurking outside. He knew that Buddhist monks only ate one meal a day, and immediately calculated. Until he was full and drunk, he could leave. That was the best time. Moreover, this temple had been deserted for many years. Not a single person was there. It was too convenient. After Bodhisattva Long Tho was full, he threw the bowl out of the window, right where the thief was hiding. The thief could not believe his eyes. How could there be such a person? He was full, and then he threw away this precious bowl. Or was this bowl worthless? So the thief asked, Can I ask you a few questions? Bodhisattva Long Tho said, Boy, to bring you in here, I had to throw the bowl out there. So, bring him in here. I gave you that bowl. You are not a thief. It is my gift. I am a poor man. I have nothing but this bowl. I also know that I cannot keep it for long, because when I sleep, someone will take it away. You did not hesitate to follow me from the capital city. I knew that early on. The weather in the summer is very hot. Please do not refuse my gift. The thief said, You are very strange. Don't you know how precious this bowl is? Bodhisattva Long Tho said, After I have understood the truth of life, everything else is worthless. The thief looked at Long Tho and said, So please tell me, what truth have you understood that is worth more than this golden bowl? Bodhisattva Long Tho replied, It is very simple. The thief said, Before you tell me, let me introduce myself. I am a famous thief. Bodhisattva Long Tho said, Who is not like that? Do not care about those trifles. Because humans are all born with white hands. Behind them there are many things from other people. So everyone is a thief. So do not worry. No matter what you do, it will not be a problem. Just do well. And remember carefully, when you steal other people's things, you have to think about their feelings. If you cannot consider other people's feelings, then do not steal it. There is only such a simple principle. The thief said, This is too easy. But later, can I see you again? I will stay here for more than 10 days. During this time, you can come. But first, do what I said. The thief tried this for 10 days. And he saw that it was the most difficult thing in life. There are times when you want to steal things, but when you think about other people's feelings, the desire to steal his things disappears. Even when he steals in the palace, when he opens the vaults full of gold, he does not think about anything. But he remembers the promise, so he does not steal anything. Finally, he does not steal anything. He immediately met the monk Long Tho and said, My life has been messed up by you. Now I can't steal anything. Long Tho replied, The problem is you, not me. If you want to go back to your old job, forget your feelings. Long Tho said, But those moments are precious. I have never been as free as today. Peaceful, quiet, happy. Even the characters in the kingdom cannot be compared. Now I understand the meaning of the saying, after understanding the truth, everything else has no value for you. I have tasted the taste of the orange juice, and I think you are in it at every moment. Can you accept me as your disciple and let me follow you? Long Tho said, In fact, every moment, I visit the truth. At first, when you followed me, I wanted you to become my disciple. At that time, you wanted to steal my gold, but I wanted to keep your heart. Our work is a coincidence, but a miraculous coincidence.
