New York is known for its high food prices
As I said in MMM, New York is known for its high food prices
When you first go to a restaurant in the U.S.,
you might think it's expensive, but it's similar to expensive restaurants in Seoul
But when you get your check, you're surprised
because you get a fine and a tax
It's about 10% more expensive than you think
And if you use your credit card, you get a tip
I've seen it for $23, $25, $30
If you want to go to a good restaurant in New York, you have to spend a lot of money
So you have to spend money at home
There are a lot of videos about New York's food prices
But there's a trap
New York has different prices depending on the mart brand and the neighborhood
New York is a neighborhood where many immigrants live
So there are many supermarkets where certain ethnicities buy their favorite food
For example, in Upper West Side,
there's a supermarket called Zabals that Eastern Europeans love
And in the lower part, there's a supermarket that Jews called Roths and Earls traditionally used
There's also H Mart in K-Town, which we know well
But most of all, in Manhattan,
there's a supermarket called Trader Joe's where a lot of single or dink-type professionals go
So I'm going to check if the notorious New York prices are really that expensive
and I'm going to go shopping
Let's talk about it one by one
Six packs of beer cost about $13 in Korean money
It's 10,000 won for four cans at a Korean convenience store
You can say it's about the same, because it's sweet beer
And the orange juice is 1.8 liters
It's about 7,000 won here
There were many kinds of orange juice, but I bought the expensive one
I think the average price is similar to that in Korea
Let's look at the price of meat
We talked about comparing the prices of meat in M&M
and we said that the price of meat in New York is usually cheaper than in Korea
It's 0.66 pounds, so it's about 300 grams
But it's about 16,000 to 17,000 won
So compared to Korean prices, meat is definitely cheaper
In Korea, it's about 15,000 won for 100 grams, so it's definitely cheaper
And then it's a much bigger chunk
It's 0.9 pounds, so it's about 400 grams
Rib eye
23,000 won? 18 dollars?
This is also much cheaper than in Korea
So it's definitely an advantageous country for meat
And then milk
They sell half a gallon of American milk
One gallon is 4 liters
This is half a gallon, so it's 1.89
So it's almost 2 liters, but this is 5,000 won
It's about 5,500 won for 5,000 won
And then frozen food
Mac and cheese that Americans often eat
This is really cheap
It's 2,500 won
In the U.S., the expression that you only eat frozen food comes out in dramas
It's called TV dinner
People who eat together and live alone while watching TV
I think it's an expression that it's really hard to live by eating only TV dinner
Because you can eat a meal for 2,500 won in New York
In my opinion, what the U.S. is definitely advantageous in terms of paint is
Fruits
They sell blueberries for 7,000 won at the vegetable store in front of my house
It's this big
But this is 7,000 won
But this is the smallest size
The price of strawberries is the same as in Korea
They sell strawberries for 20,000 won
They sell strawberries for 6,000 to 7,000 won
Fruit prices are advantageous because the country has a lot of land
And then I'll look at cereals
In Korea, 600g is about 7,000 won
This is 600g and a half
It's 4,000 won
I think it's similar
One thing that can't be left out of everyday prices is eggs
It's hard to compare to superchars like me
In Korea, they sell 10 eggs, but here they sell a dozen
So how can I compare the prices
I have to calculate it in my head
A dozen eggs are about 5,000 won
Trader Joe's is all about animal welfare
Organic is what they promote
If you look at the price of animal welfare eggs in Korea
It's similar
And then here's pasta
About 3,000 won
If you look at pasta sauce, it's about 3,000 to 3,500 won
Yogurt?
Look at the size of the yogurt
It looks like plain yogurt for cooking
6,500 won?
About this much
Let's calculate American breakfast for one meal
I put a lot of peanut butter and jelly on the bread
How many pieces are there?
2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 pieces
3.5 dollars for bread
Peanut butter is 2.3 dollars
Jam is 4 dollars
9.8 dollars
So it's about 13,000 won
You can make 8 sandwiches for 13,000 won
Except for the toaster electricity bill
Then it's about 1.2 dollars to make one
So about 1,500 won
Ordinary New Yorkers have breakfast
And then drip coffee
You don't have to calculate the unit price
Just keep pouring hot water
It's almost free
And then I bought some snacks
I think Koreans have to have something like this
I bought this
First of all, the size is American size
Compared to my face, it's about this size
And then vegetables, broccoli
When I looked at the whole market
It's about 120,000 won
I think about three people will eat for 2 nights and 3 days
In conclusion, New York prices are similar to Korea
But here's one thing to be careful about
In the case of Korea, ramen, milk, and eggs
The same items from the same company
They don't sell it at different stores in the neighborhood
But in the case of the United States
In a supermarket out of the Bronx or Brooklyn
They sell a 1.8 liter bottle of milk for about 1.4 dollars
They sell it for about 2,000 won
In the most expensive supermarket in the most expensive neighborhood
7.8 dollars
It's about 10,000 won
The price difference is huge even in the neighborhood
It's a bit of a hassle to say that New York prices are like this
With one internet content
In New York, it's a little bit higher than the middle
Meratan's hip
Union Square, where a lot of young people live
The price of the supermarket in the neighborhood
If you think it's about the same as the E-mart internet price in Korea
Actually, when I think about it
I think Korean prices are expensive
Because Korean E-mart prices
Whether you're from Seoul or not
It's the price of a supermarket that everyone uses
This is a store for young professionals living in the center of New York
If it's similar to Korean general mart prices
I think New York prices should be cheaper
I've been shopping like this
For the time being, in New York
I'll make a lot of fun content
Today's Cho Seung-yoon's exploration life
This is a rooftop, so the pronunciation is a bit strong
Today's Cho Seung-yoon's exploration life ends here
Next time, with a more interesting cultural history story
I'll see you guys
Goodbye
