I'm Alex, this is Savage Hands and these are five touring tips that we can come up with.
One for me is just to keep an eye on the tire pressures.
If it gets too low, that's not going to be good for either the van or the trailer.
It can wear the tread bad and you can blow your tires out.
My touring tip, and this is more personal for me, but most of the band likes to work
out so it's very important, even if you can't get to a gym, just to do some type of plyometric
workout or anything, even at the venue.
We sit here, we get here at two o'clock and sit here until five, six, until doors.
After load in, merch check, all that stuff, you've got plenty of time to do something,
some kind of exercise.
It's good to get your limbs stretched out and the endorphins out of your muscles because
sleeping in the van all day cramps you up.
It's really good to just kind of get that out and just makes your day, makes everything
flow a lot more better, so that's a tip from me.
I like to start my day with vitamin C every single day so I don't get sick because that
tends to happen every time you're going on tour.
So I do vitamin C, fish oil, I mean we have alka-seltzer and all kinds of stuff, cough
drops, stuff to keep their voice fresh for the show.
They make tea every time we show up to the venue and like you said, we work out every
morning at Planet Fitness and shower there and stuff, so it's pretty sweet.
Yeah, I'd say just make sure you have some sort of routine every day, obviously that's
all included in it too, but going from whatever it is you do when you're not touring to touring
every day.
If you don't have some sort of routine you end up going crazy and staying up weird hours
of the night doing stuff like that.
Other than that I'd say stay organized.
There's never a point at which at least one person in the van isn't like, hey has anybody
seen my phone charger, my whatever, it's like inevitably stuff is lost.
I just throw whatever I can fit into my bag at all times, so just never lose it in the
mess of our van here.
You always keep like a little backpack with you in the van too, a personal one, keep it
on your bed, not in anyone else's bed, you'll be good.
With the personal belongings, with iPhone chargers, everyone in this van has an iPhone,
we're very iPhone friendly here, so everybody has the same charger.
I initial all of my chargers with Sharpie, that way I know who has it and I can say give
me that when I want it, because if it don't have your name on it, it might not be yours
because there's like 10 iPhone chargers in the van that look the same, and then he has
like a DeWalt one that's brown with like lace on it, so they know that's his, but other
than that there's like 10 white iPhone chargers in the van, but mine has blue MG on it, so
I'm good, it's mine.
