You can really interchange this checklist based on your own needs and I think that's
what we should focus on as opposed to just picking up loads of different things we need
to be really specific and intentional about building our capsule wardrobe.
Well hello there and welcome back to my channel if you are new here my name is Ciara I share
videos on shopping for the best basics on the high street how to build a capsule wardrobe
and lots of other good stuff so if that sounds good to you then do hit subscribe because
I would love to have you back for more videos so in today's video we are doing probably
my favourite video to do seasonally and it is a look at my capsule wardrobe I really
want to try to do to help you guys is to whittle it down to 10 essential items so I'm going
to give you a checklist of 10 key items that I think will stand you in good stead for your
autumn wardrobe now we're really focusing on autumn here it is these current months
that we're having where it's a little bit chilly it's a little bit windy it might be a little
bit rainy we also might get random heat waves which we got in the last few weeks but really
it's changeable transitional weather honestly I think that if you go through this and if
you maybe have some of these pieces you might have them in your wardrobe already you might
not have to buy anything new it might give you fresh ideas for things or it might give
you some inspiration for maybe some basics that you can pick up as opposed to some of
trends that we can often get bombarded with especially in autumn winter so without rambling
on too much let's get straight into it these are the 10 key items for your autumn capsule wardrobe
as always everything I'm mentioning in the video will be linked in the description below and if
anything is sold out I will link similar items and I will also leave info on sizing as well
so item number one that you're going to need for your autumn capsule wardrobe
is a trench coat and I know it is a really classic autumn or transitional capsule item
but guys it's really there for a reason it's such a good transitional piece I this year went for
a linen version and this coat by Naked Fashion it's from the Josephine collection it's just
such a good buy I think I got like a 30% off code when I bought it which was so sweet
and it's really good quality it's like a heavy linen material there's a good bit of warmth to it
it just moves really beautifully when you wear it it is hugely oversized I will say so I got
it in I think a size 8 and it's still very big which I like but just keep that in mind you can
size down at least one size if you don't want it to be really oversized but obviously that's
the vibe I love it now another honorable mention is the Arquette short trench coat this is such
a staple in my wardrobe and I go for it so so much especially when I don't want to be overwhelmed
with a load of fabric this shorter trench coat is really easy to style it's also very flattering so
if you're not on the taller side or you're more petite it's a great option to go for I've said
this before about the Arquette short trench but it has very minimal details so it's really easy
to pair with things and it's great it's a great minimal kind of basic that you're just going to
wear so much so even though it is a little bit more expensive it's just under the kind of 200
euro mark it's one that you will pull out again season after season but if you have your heart
set on it for this autumn winter I would nab it because it does tend to sell out this time of year
if you want a classic trench coat River Island is a great option I find their coats to be really
really good quality I've had some of their trenches before they're brilliant and I'm
going to link one that is in stock I'll show it here on screen it's a really gorgeous classic
kind of warm tan color minimal details classic buttons it's a great pick so number two on your
autumn capsule wardrobe checklist you are going to need a classic blazer and I know I'm still on a
blazer band guys I haven't picked up a new blazer since I basically completed my blazer capsule
wardrobe and if you want to know the best blazers on the high street I've done the research I will
link the video below honorable mention to the Arquette wool hopsack blazers they're just
fantastic they're really really great blazers they wash super well and they're nice and light
and that's the thing about autumn and your autumn capsule wardrobe is that a blazer is really
perfect as a jacket it's kind of like a trench coat you don't need the heavy layers and obviously
we are going to be swamped in those layers before long for quite a long time winter tends to cling
on well into the new year so let's stick with the lighter layers while we can because I always find
if I jump the gun too quickly and I start throwing on all my coats not only am I roasting but I'm also
really regretting it when I actually have to wear them so I would say Arquette hopsack wool blazers
are fantastic but I would really recommend the and other stories wool blazer and they bring it
out every single year and I believe it's the exact same as the one that I've picked up I think it's
two to three years ago now I've had it under 200 euro it is a little bit more expensive but
definitely your cost per wear on this piece is going to be fantastic it's also a lovely heavy
wool material so it's really warm it's kind of like a coat in itself definitely I'd say Arquette
and other stories I also adore Sandro blazers they're a little bit more expensive but they
really are so gorgeous they're just fantastic I get so much wear out of them next up in your
autumn capsule wardrobe I would recommend a cropped jacket and these have really exploded
in popularity in the last I would say year year and a half so last year and this season I picked
up a few key ones that I really really love and I get so much wear out of them I have a cropped
jacket that I picked up from Sandro last year I actually remember buying it when I was in Australia
in the sales because I knew I was going to wear it so much and I really really loved it it's such
a good buy but you can get similar ones on Mango H&M have some great ones Massimo Duty are fantastic
so I will link some of my favorites below but I think a cropped jacket is a really good one to
pick up you will wear it so so much and it's a great alternative to a blazer the next item I
recommend on your autumn capsule wardrobe checklist is a cardigan again they're really having a moment
right now but really they are such a classic style that I have been wearing for years and years and
they're so versatile another cardigan style that I really recommend is the heavy cardigan from
Marks and Spencer they do this beautiful heavy knit cardigan which I'll show you here which I
picked up in the cream and the black colorway it came in at 50 euros which for the quality I think
is so so good I've been wearing them just as my layer out and about without a trench without a
jacket and they've been super warm especially if you wear them with a nice t-shirt underneath
they look so chic so I think a heavier cardigan is a great option to go for for your autumn capsule
wardrobe but if you do want something a bit lighter I adore the Cezanne Gaspard cardigan
I have it in four colors which shows you just how much I adore it the quality of the wool it's really
soft and comfortable on skin the buttons are really really well stitched it's really sturdy
it's just so chic and just a really gorgeous gorgeous addition to my capsule wardrobe you can
really interchange this checklist based on your own needs and I think that's what we should focus
on as opposed to just picking up loads of different things we need to be really specific and intentional
about building our capsule wardrobe so following on from the cardigan another item that I recommend
for your autumn capsule wardrobe on your checklist is a chunky knit and again knitwear is something
that we do tend to live in in autumn winter but in the earlier stages of autumn it can just be
your layer in itself you don't necessarily need a coat just a simple knit is often fine that's
what I've been wearing recently places like Arquette do gorgeous like they do the angora
wool they do mohair and just really good quality knits that are much more likely to last through
those washes obviously with knits we need to be careful with how we're washing them anyway
also H&M is fantastic especially their more premium collections they have great knits for me
I feel like my classic one is this simple one from H&M it's a very basic neutral color I've
been wearing it a lot it looks really great with skirts trousers jeans something like this in that
really simple slightly oversized fit it's almost like borrowed from your boyfriend energy I think
it's such a good one you can also throw it on over your shoulders as a layer let's say over
your trench coat as we get deeper into autumn and it does get a little bit chillier so that
covers all of our outer layers and our kind of heavier pieces now I'm going to move on to the
base layers and it's no surprise the next thing I recommend on your autumn capsule wardrobe
checklist is a good basic t-shirt and I have harped on about this so so much guys but and I
know I'm repeating myself but really if you focus on your foundations and your basics in your
wardrobe everything just is easier my top two recommendations on the high street for a good
t-shirt is the cause heavyweight t-shirt it comes in at about 30 euro I'll link below it's fantastic
but my personal personal favorite is the Arquette heavyweight t-shirt it's about 38 euro and it's
really good I'm currently wearing it in black right now and I have the white color I believe
it actually might be in the wash there's usually one of them in the wash because that is how often
they get used and the fit on them is just really really good they're nice and heavy so when you're
wearing them with something like this cardigan or let's say a cropped jacket you're warm you don't
need anything else I would recommend picking it up in the black and the white color just to give
you maximum versatility so let's say you already have your basic t-shirt you're happy you could
opt for a longer sleeve one maybe in a stripe would be perfect these are the kind of layers
that again depending on your taste and your needs you can use interchangeably as your basic
so if you don't have it yet that classic t-shirt it should be your first port of call along with
your basic tee the next top that I would recommend in your autumn capsule wardrobe checklist is a
tank top I always feel like here in Ireland we get such a late summer and I feel like September
is always super mild and even though I am wearing my heavyweight t-shirts now a couple of weeks ago
I was not able to wear them and I feel like we still could have some mild days ahead so that's
why tank tops are fantastic because they're really cool and breathable but they offer this really
nice layer underneath so I think they're a great shout if you don't have some good ones already
my absolute favorites are the Uniqlo built-in bra tank tops I cannot sing the praises of these
enough I have the Uniqlo tank tops in the cream color it's like an off-white cream in black and
also in gray and they are just such good basics the built-in bra is fantastic it means you
literally don't have to worry about like any straps or anything like that they give this gorgeous like
seamless finish and they're just so so flattering I actually wear them a lot for like a dressy
casual look if you're going for like casual drinks or a date night I feel like they're the perfect
like dress down but still cute kind of energy also really like our cats tank tops they do this
contrast kind of piping black and white one for about 17 euro and it's so chic and it's gorgeous
underneath the cardigans that I mentioned the blazers you get to see just this little pipe
of white or cream along the black and it's really gorgeous so that's everything for tops now we're
going to move on to your bottoms so my next item on your checklist is the classic pair of denim
jeans and again it's a no-brainer but really finding the right denim it's actually really
hard I find shopping for denim is probably one of the hardest things out there but there are two
styles of jeans that I really need to put you on I'm going to give you one tighter fit and one
looser fit okay so the first pair of denim that I highly recommend and what would probably be my pick
is the Arquette rose cropped jean I have this in two colors I have it in the kind of off-white
ecru color and then I have it in the blue denim wash such a good pair of jeans I'll put the sizing
that I've chosen below but I know I sized up slightly in the cream I didn't want it too tight
and they're just gorgeous on so the second pair of jeans that I highly recommend you check out
are the river island straight leg jeans these are definitely a baggier fit but they are just
so gorgeous they're my favorite pair of looser or slightly baggier jeans that I found on the
high street depending on the fit that you choose they might not be as baggy on you but I did size
up in mine and I just love them they look so so good I have them in four different washes which
shows you just how much I love them I have them in the cream the black the light blue wash and
then the indigo blue wash but the one that I reach for the most are the indigo the dark blue wash ones
they're just really gorgeous I love the color of them I think they match really really well with
so many things in my wardrobe two amazing pairs of denim on the high street next up in your autumn
capsule wardrobe what I recommend on your checklist is a pair of tailored trousers probably one of the
most versatile items I feel like your tailored trousers will take you from your workwear wardrobe
to your day-to-day casual you can dress them up for events and functions even nights out and you
can dress them down as well it's really all about finding the right pair with the right fit my top
recommendation again we're going back to Arquette they just they have such good trousers and there's
a particular pair it's the wool twill tailored trousers they come in at under 100 euro and
they're just really well made there's something about the darting that they have on the front of
them it gives them this gorgeous fit and they're loose but not too loose they're long but not too
long they're the perfect length in that I can wear them with a pair of heels I can wear them with a
pair of ballet flats and they're not dragging on the ground or I can wear them with a pair of
trainers so for me that's just such a handy one I just know I can throw them on rather than having
a million pairs of tailored trousers I'd rather have one or two really good pairs in the colours
that I like in the Arquette wool twill trousers I've chosen the black but again base it on what
your needs are I think tan is a gorgeous colour to go for for a tailored trouser greys are beautiful
as well and we're seeing a lot of brown this season if you want to do something more updated
something in kind of a mid to high waist I find is really really good the final item in my 10 piece
autumn capsule wardrobe that I recommend is a midi skirt I really love like a longer midi length even
pushing towards a maxi and what I love at the moment are plissé skirts they're so beautiful
to style I have this white one that I picked up from H&M it was such a steal it's a beautiful
colour and it just looks so so chic but another one that I highly recommend are the satin midi
skirts they're just so chic and they're probably the one of the if not the most recommended item
here on this channel because I feel like they're so versatile you can dress them down for your day
to day with t-shirts blazers that kind of thing but they're really easy to dress up as well and
they work just as well with like an oversized knit there's just something so gorgeous about
that look but then you can easily pair them with a dressy top and wear it out to a function like
it's fantastic and they work for workwear as well it all depends on how you style them brands like
Arquette have great ones there are some gorgeous ones on LilySilk as well and you know lots of
places on the high street have really really nice ones but I do think a midi skirt is just brilliant
they're so comfortable they're so easy to style and there's something so elegant about a midi
length it's so so nice so there you have it guys those are the 10 items that I recommend on your
autumn capsule wardrobe checklist you do not have to run out and buy all of these items but it's
really just a guideline for you to look at when we think about building our wardrobes it can be
really overwhelming you know we get targeted so many things so many sales so I think going back
to basics is key and really looking at what you need from your wardrobe what does your lifestyle
look like your day to day your work all that kind of stuff so in my next video I'm going to be
looking at your 10 piece accessory capsule wardrobe checklist so because I wanted to keep
this really concise and focus just on the clothing next we're going to focus on the accessories
because really that is how you are going to style these pieces up for all these different occasions
I think swapping out your shoes your bags you know your accessories it's going to really make
these pieces so so versatile so stay tuned for the next video and as always if you liked this video
